Cristiano Ronaldo suggests that he would like to one day reunite with Wayne Rooney, who he partnered for five years at Manchester United.

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he would like to reunite with former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney before both players hang up their boots.

The pair spent five years together at Old Trafford prior to the Portuguese forward's move to Real Madrid in 2009, winning three Premier League titles, two EFL Cups, the FA Cup and Champions League.

In the same summer that Ronaldo sealed a £100m switch to Juventus, Rooney signalled the final throes of his career by joining Major League Soccer side DC United.

Ronaldo says that he misses playing in the same side as Rooney and has not ruled out linking up with the Englishman again in the future.

"For me the power of Wayne Rooney is his mentality and strength," he told Goalhanger. "He never stops, he always runs, helps the team. He's a fantastic team player and he scores goals.

"He scored important goals, for me he's fantastic. He was the kid of England. Everyone loved him. He is a fantastic boy, fantastic player.

"I used to call him, between me and my mates, the pit bull. I remember when he lost the ball he was so powerful, a strong guy, he shoots unbelievable.

"He scored many goals, what can I say? I miss playing with him. The future, nobody knows. Maybe we'll play one day together again."

Rooney has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances for DC United during his short spell in MLS, while Ronaldo has seven goals in 13 outings for Juve.
