Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Jesse Lingard is in the club's plans "at the moment".

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Jesse Lingard is in his plans "at the moment", as the speculation surrounding the attacker's future continues to gather pace.

The 28-year-old impressed while on loan at West Ham United in the second half of last season, scoring nine times and registering five assists in 16 appearances.

The Hammers are believed to be keen to sign the England international on a permanent deal, while Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with an interest.

Lingard only has a year left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, but he is back with the club for pre-season and impressed during Sunday's 2-1 win over Derby County.

Solskjaer has lavished praise on the attacker and revealed that he is in the club's plans "at the moment", but the Man United boss refused to offer any guarantees over his future.

"He came seven or eight days later than the rest but he's a naturally fit boy," the Manchester Evening News quotes Solskjaer as saying. "He's a man, he played with a few boys but he's one of the men!

"Jesse has come back, been bright, he wants to fight for his place and there's nothing better than seeing players want to fight for their place.

"What he did towards the end of last season, that's the true Jesse, that's what we know he's capable of and, for us, I think we saw towards the end that we lacked some options at times and Jesse is in the plans at the moment, yeah."

Lingard, who was left out of the England squad for this summer's European Championship, has made 210 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
