Marseille forward Mathieu Valbuena has revealed that he would like to play for Atletico Madrid because of his Spanish origins.
Valbuena has reportedly been allowed to leave the Ligue 1 club in the summer, despite being under contract until 2017.
"There was Schalke, Zenit, great clubs," the 29-year-old told beIn Sport.
"But I really like Atletico Madrid because it is a Spanish club and I have Spanish origins, but also because they play well.
"This was an interesting lead, but it didn't go all the way."
The 29-year-old joined Marseille from Libourne in 2006.
