Andre-Pierre Gignac frustrated by defensive record

Gignac frustrated by defensive record

Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has expressed his frustration with his side's defensive record this season.

The France international said that he was furious following his side's 2-2 draw at home to Toulouse, in which the hosts squandered a half-time lead.

"It's infuriating. We couldn't manage to take all three points. It's very disappointing. When you're ahead at half time, but then every time you take the lead, your opponents level things with a set piece, it gets pretty irritating," he told reporters.

"We made the effort tonight; we were dominant against a side who are niggardly to play against, but our lack of aggression on set pieces cost us dearly. It keeps happening and it's starting to get very tedious.

"Especially as now opposition players are saying, 'Let's go and collect some points at the Velodrome'. That's starting to annoy me as well. Now we absolutely have to get three points against Bastia next Saturday."

Goals from Dimitri Payet and Mathieu Valbuena gave Marseille a 2-1 advantage at the break, only for Toulouse to snatch a point in the second period courtesy of Serge Aurier's equaliser.
