Bruno Fernandes delivers a firm response to speculation suggesting that he could leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has delivered a staunch response to suggestions that he could leave in the summer transfer window.

Since arriving at Old Trafford in January 2020, Fernandes has established himself as the club's standout player and was made captain by Erik ten Hag.

A total of 79 goals and 65 assists have been delivered from his 231 appearances in all competitions, yet he remains with minimal silverware.

Fernandes's solitary trophy with the Red Devils is last season's EFL Cup, with United since under-performing in the Premier League during 2023-24.

United head into the final weekend of the season needing to better the result of Newcastle United to guarantee a top-seven finish in the standings.

Fernandes returns to inspire United on Wednesday night

In his absence, a rarity during his time at the club, United suffered 4-0 and 1-0 defeats to Crystal Palace and Arsenal respectively, but the Portugal international returned from injury to star against Newcastle on Wednesday night.

The 29-year-old supplied the assist for Rasmus Hojlund's late goal that ultimately proved to be the difference in a 3-2 victory over the Magpies.

Fernandes would be withdrawn to a rapturous reception in the 90th minute, supporters giving their universal backing to a player who has been strongly linked with an exit at the end of the season.

With United failing to regularly challenge for silverware, there has been talk of interest from Bayern Munich and the Saudi Pro League.

However, the former Sporting Lisbon man has declared that he is fully focused on life in Manchester and has no intention of departing the club.

What did Fernandes say?

Speaking to Sky Sports, Fernandes said: "I will be here until when the club wants me and the club wants me to be a part of the future.

"If for some reason they don't want me, then I will go."

There has already been talk of Fernandes holding discussions with the club's new footballing operations team, led by minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Fernandes, who now has 12 goals and 10 assists from his 40 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, and club officials are said to be on the same wavelength with regards to the future, a transitional period expected at Old Trafford during the next transfer window.

Further talks will be left until after the weekend with United making the trip to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion.
