Ferguson: Norwich will stay up

Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Norwich have already done enough to ensure they will still be a Premier League club next season.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his belief that Norwich City will avoid relegation this season ahead of the two sides' meeting on Sunday.

The Canaries currently sit eighth in the league, fourteen points clear of the relegation zone and just eight points off a Champions League spot, and Ferguson believes that their strong first half of the season has all but secured their Premier League status for another year.

"It is difficult to say who is going to go down. When you look at the bottom of the league, there are five teams from 19 to 21 points. There is not a great deal of leeway there, but 21 to 35 is a big gap and I think Norwich are okay," said the veteran manager.

"They look as if they are enjoying themselves and it is always a good atmosphere at Carrow Road. They get a full house every game."

United sit second in the league, two points behind league leaders and local rivals Manchester City.
