Daniel Sturridge hails Wayne Rooney partnership

England striker Daniel Sturridge believes that his partnership with "world class" Wayne Rooney will blossom given time.

England striker Daniel Sturridge has declared that his partnership with Wayne Rooney felt natural and instinctive from the outset, while sharing his desire to make a mark at international level.

Sturridge has returned to the Three Lions fold after producing consistent displays for Liverpool since making the switch to Anfield in January, with 10 goals in 13 appearances for the Reds so far this season.

Rooney and Sturridge led the line to help England qualify for the World Cup in wins over Poland and Montenegro last month, an understanding the ex-Chelsea forward is keen to build upon this week.

He told The Mirror: "Wazza is a world-class player and it is easy to play with him. I enjoy playing with him. We complement each other's game. In training, it is almost as if we don't need to work on things.

"We know where we are, where teammates are. I really wanted to play against Brazil [last summer] to showcase my talents. The boys did well but from a personal perspective I was devastated.

"When these opportunities come about you have to show what you can do. I am playing my natural game and doing things off the cuff."

The 24-year-old has been passed fit by England medical staff to face Germany tomorrow night, after missing Friday's defeat to Chile through injury.
