Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of England's game against Brazil with an ankle injury.
The 23-year-old was forced off the field just 33 minutes after making his first senior Three Lions start in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Ireland at Wembley.
England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Sturridge, who suffered ligament damage, will not travel to South America with the rest of the squad for Sunday's summer friendly.
"He's not going to Brazil, which is very sad for us," said Hodgson. "He had a good start and we were very sad to lose him.
"He hadn't played for a while and was carrying a slight injury. I fear it will keep him out for a few weeks but we don't think it's a fracture."
Sturridge has been capped six times at senior international level, scoring one goal.
