Sanllehi: 'Ozil can still have Arsenal future'

Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi says that Mesut Ozil can still have a future with the club if he 'contributes 24/7'.

Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi has insisted that Mesut Ozil can still have a future with the club providing that he 'contributes 24/7'.

The 30-year-old has only made one Premier League appearance for the Gunners this season and has not even made the bench for their last two top-flight fixtures.

The German has reportedly put his London home up for sale amid suggestions that he will be leaving the Emirates Stadium - potentially on loan - at the start of 2020.

However, Sanllehi has claimed that the attacker could still be an important figure for Unai Emery's side providing that he applies himself in the coming weeks.

"Unai has had many good players in other teams also, and he has always followed the same policy. That is to try not to make any distinctions, play the ones who work hard in training and reward the effort with playing time," The Sun quotes Sanllehi as saying.

"There is nothing against Mesut on the contrary and I hope we get to see him much more in the next games because his qualities are without question. But he needs to contribute 24/7 and that's what Unai expects from him.

"It's not that he's not working so well, but there are others who are deserving more playing time, but Unai can't treat him differently than any other player. You may have read that Unai has put a barrier up, but nothing at all like this has happened."

Ozil is believed to have offered himself to Barcelona as the German eyes a move away from his current club during the January transfer window.
