Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp "looking forward" to Manchester United showdown

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that he is "looking forward" to Monday's "fantastic" clash against Manchester United at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he and his players are relishing the upcoming showdown against Manchester United at Anfield.

The long-standing rivals will go head to head for the first time in the Premier League this season when they meet on Merseyside on Monday night.

Last season, United sealed a late 1-0 victory at Anfield thanks to a Wayne Rooney goal.

Liverpool got their revenge in the Europa League when they sealed a 3-1 aggregate triumph across two legs in the last-16 stage.

"Both games were intense and competitive," ESPN quotes Klopp as saying. "We were better in the first game at Anfield. We had a fantastic atmosphere and the players were inspired by that.

"It was my first time at Old Trafford for the second leg. Maybe people don't like to hear it, but there was actually quite a good atmosphere there too.

"That changed the game a little bit and it was real proof of what an atmosphere can do. We are really looking forward to what will be a fantastic game at Anfield."

Liverpool are currently three points above United in the league table, with Klopp's men fourth and Jose Mourinho's side in sixth place.
