Live Commentary: Sheffield United 1-0 Stevenage

Follow live updates of tonight's League One playoff semi-final second leg between Sheffield United and Stevenage, courtesy of Sports Mole.

Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live commentary of tonight's League One playoff semi-final second leg between Sheffield United and Stevenage at Bramall Lane.

Friday's first leg ended in a goalless draw at the Lamex Stadium, and therefore both sides will feel that they have a strong chance of progressing to the final.

Stevenage recorded victory over United at home earlier in the campaign, while four goals were shared when the clubs met at Bramall Lane.

Both sides enter the match in good form, but Stevenage have not lost in seven and could become the first club to achieve three successive promotions in English senior football should they progress to the Championship this season.

So there we have it, Sheffield United have advanced into the League One playoff final after a late header from Porter. In truth, they looked the most likely throughout the match with Stevenage unable to force any real attacking pressure. They will meet either Huddersfield or Milton Keynes Dons in the final. Our full report of the match can be found here. Thanks for joining Sports Mole for the coverage.

Sheffield United advance to the final

FULL-TIME: Sheffield United 1-0 Stevenage

90 min+2: United continue to defend well in the latter stages. They are just moments away as Simonsen gathers the ball.

90 min+2: The home side are almost there, and in truth, they deserve it. However, we are not finished yet.

90 min: We will play an additional three minutes. Can Stevenage force the equaliser?

89 min: Still all Stevenage as they continue to pump the ball forward, but it keeps coming back with the United defence remaining strong.

88 min: All Stevenage in the final moments as they force a corner, but the danger is cleared. Still the away side attack.

87 min: Change for the away side as Byrom is replaced by Craig Reid. They have to go for it now.

86 min: What a time to score his eighth goal of the season - Porter might have just sent United into the final.

Sheffield United take the lead with five minutes to play as Lawton finds Porter at the far post, and he plants his header past Day.

85 min: GOAL! Sheffield United 1-0 Stevenage (Porter)

84 min: Another strike from Quinn is gathered by Day. We have seen more action in the last five minutes than all game. Stay tuned. I can feel a goal coming.

82 min: Chance! So nearly a goal for Sheffield United as Hill strikes a wonderful effort from 35 yards, but it just moves wide of the post. What an effort.

81 min: Another chance for Stevenage as Bostwick strikes a free kick, but Simonsen gathers the ball. It's all starting to open up as Lowton tests Day in the Stevenage goal.

79 min: Chance! Best chance for the away side as the ball falls to Laird on the edge of the box, but Simonsen makes a wonderful save to clear the danger. They could have won it there.

76 min: Still nothing from the away side as Freeman is crowded out once more. Sheffield United continue to attack, but they just cannot find that killer pass.

74 min: Chance for the home side as Williamson stands over a free kick, but he hits it horribly wide.

73 min: In truth, very little happening as we approach the latter stages. It's been as poor a match I think I have ever seen.

71 min: The home side continue to look the most likely, and in truth, Stevenage have offered very little the entire match. 20 to go.

68 min: Still the Stevenage defence remain strong with Williamson and Porter beginning to threaten.

67 min: Little over 20 minutes remaining in this League One encounter. As it stands, we are heading for extra time. It's time to make yourself a hero.

65 min: Brilliant defending from the home side as Porter towers above the Stevenage attack to clear a corner. He has been immense tonight.

63 min: Change for Stevenage as Chris Beardsley replaces Agyemang.

61 min: Another opening for the away side as Bostwick advances into the box, but it wouldn't fall for Freeman with Simonsen advancing at his feet. United advance down the other end, but Quinn can only fire wide.

59 min: First real opening of the match for Stevenage as Hill finds Freeman in an advanced position, but his shot is straight at Simonsen. Much better from the away side.

59 min: The home side continue to dominate as we approach the hour mark of the match. It looks like the goal is coming, but in football, you never know.

57 min: Change for the away side as Shroot is replaced by John Mousinho.

56 min: Better from Quinn who attacks the Stevenage defence, and Flynn so nearly finds the bottom corner from 25 yards but it just moves wide of the post. Wonderful strike.

55 min: Chance! Another opportunity for United as Matt Hill finds Williamson in the box, but he just fires wide from close range. We still haven't seen a great deal from Freeman for the away side.

52 min: Both sides continue to search out their lone forwards, but the defences remain on top.

50 min: Much better start to the second period for United, who seem intent on securing an advantage in this match.

48 min: Chance! First opportunity of the half as Flynn strikes from inside the box, but Scott Laird blocks the danger.

48 min: The second half has begun much like the first, with a high tempo. Let's see if it lasts as the home side pour forward.

46 min: We are underway in the second period, let's hope that we see a better half than the first. Kevin McDonald, meanwhile, has been replaced by Nick Montgomery for the home side.

So there we have it, Sheffield United and Stevenage remain tied at 0-0 at the interval of their League One playoff semi-final second leg. It was the away side who, arguably, started the better, but Sheffield United had the clearest opening of the half with a header from Porter, which Day pushed wide. As is stands, we are heading for an additional 30 minutes at the end of the 90.

HALF-TIME: Sheffield United 0-0 Stevenage

45 min: We will play an additional minute at the end of the half.

45 min: Chance for the home side as Williamson strikes from outside the box, but it drifts horribly wide.

43 min: Not a good challenge from Flynn as he brings down Joel Byrom. Stevenage's ball into the box, however, is cleared from danger.

40 min: Five minutes of the half remaining. Stevenage have begun to claw their way back into the match in the latter stages of the half, without ever really threatening to take the lead.

37 min: It's much better from the away side as Jamaal Lascelles searches out Lawrie Wilson, but his cross is headed away by Neill Collins.

35 min: Late pressure from Stevenage with Freeman and Michael Bostwick involved, but yet again it breaks down.

33 min: Still no real inspiration for either side with the defences certainly coming out on top thus far. That early chance for Porter remains the clearest opening of the match.

30 min: Ever so scrappy from Stevenage as Jon Ashton slices over his own bar, however, the corner from Sheffield United is poor.

30 min: Another flick-on from Quinn searches out Porter, but Roberts ushers the ball to safety.

28 min: Not a great deal of quality on display thus far truth be told, with the ball spending more time in the air than on the ground.

26 min: Stevenage attempt another ball towards Agyemang, but it's too high and collected by Steve Simonsen. Still the away side continue to deal with a series of long balls into Porter.

25 min: It's a bit better from the away side as Freeman picks up possession, but his cross is cleared.

23 min: Half-chance for the home side as Williamson whips a corner into the box, but Porter's efforts are punished with a free kick. It's Stevenage with the ball with 23 minutes on the clock.

22 min: Still the home side continue to pass the ball, but more often than not, their long ball into Porter is gobbled up by the Stevenage defence.

20 min: More possession work from the home side, but Stevenage continue to defend well with the ball spending most of its time in the air.

17 min: Another United attack breaks down as Flynn plays the ball straight out of play, it's all gone a bit scrappy in the last few moments.

16 min: It's nice work from Quinn as he finds Porter in the Stevenage half, but Mark Roberts pulls the United striker to the ground. Michael Doyle's free kick, however, drifts straight out of play.

15 min: Another Stevenage attack breaks down as Agyemang loses possession. We haven't seen much of former Arsenal man Luke Freeman for Stevenage thus far.

13 min: It's nice play from the home side with Quinn, Lee Williamson and Porter all involved, but it's a strong header clear from Scott Laird. It's awkward for Day as Ryan Flynn's cross is deflected, but the Stevenage goalkeeper claims the ball.

12 min: You can't help but think that the home side will really miss the presence of Richard Creswell this evening - he knows how to perform in these type of games.

10 min: The early possession stats are quite clearly in United's favour, as their fans begin to lift the team.

9 min: Sheffield United have begun to take control of this match after a lively opening from the away side, with Quinn the obvious danger. However, we remain 0-0.

7 min: Chance! Glorious chance for the home side as Porter advances into the box, but his header is pushed away by Chris Day. The inquest begins in the Stevenage defence.

7 min: The Bramall Lane pitch looks in fine condition this evening, it really is a good surface at this level.

6 min: Good defensive work from Quinn as he gains possession before finding Matthew Lowton, but his long-range ball is collected by Jon Ashton.

5 min: It's better from the home side with Stephen Quinn and Chris Porter involved, but the Stevenage defence clear the danger. Really fast start to the match this evening.

3 min: It's Stevenage with early possession of the ball, with Agyemang the clear target at every opportunity.

1 min: Immediate chance for the away side as Robin Shroot finds Patrick Agyemang in the penalty box, but the striker is crowded out. High-tempo start this evening.

1 min: It's Sheffield United who get us underway on this mild night in Sheffield. Let's hope for an exciting evening of playoff football.

19.40: The players are emerging onto the pitch at Bramall Lane, tonight's referee is Nigel Miller.

19.30: We are just 15 minutes away from kickoff in tonight's encounter. The smart money is on the home side, but I can almost sense a shock this evening.
