Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Leicester City

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League meeting with Leicester City on February 22.

After a three-week gap between games, Manchester City return to action on February 22 with a Premier League trip to Leicester City.

The Citizens' meeting with West Ham on Sunday, February 9 was called off due to bad weather conditions, meaning that they face a backlog of fixtures over the coming months.

City will have to rearrange their league encounter with West Ham and the home match with Arsenal, which was scheduled for early next month but clashes with the EFL Cup final.

Pep Guardiola's players will spend time resting up as part of the inaugural Premier League winter break, but they face a tough trip to Leicester when action resumes later this month.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of squaring off against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium.

Leroy Sane

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 22 (vs. Leicester City)

Having recently spent time training with the rest of his teammates, Sane is believed to be closing in on a return from a serious knee injury. A return to action against Leicester seems unlikely, though he could feature before the end of the month.

Benjamin Mendy

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Fatigue
Possible return date: February 22 (vs. Leicester City)

While Mendy missed out on an appearance against Tottenham Hotspur last time out, Guardiola had previously suggested that the left-back would be available for game against West Ham. A further two-week break should give him plenty of chance to rest up and make himself fit for the trip to Leicester.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Fatigue
Possible return date: February 22 (vs. Leicester City)

Like with Mendy, Laporte has been suffering with muscle fatigue. However, Guardiola feels that the centre-back, who has recovered from a serious knee injury, is available for selection.

Raheem Sterling

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: February 22 (vs. Leicester City)

During the closing stages against Spurs, Sterling sustained what appeared to be a hamstring injury. With reports suggesting that he may miss City's Champions League fixture with Real Madrid at the end of the month, it appears highly unlikely that the winger will be available against Leicester.

Having been dismissed for two yellow cards against Spurs, Zinchenko will sit out this match. The Ukrainian will have to wait until February 26 - the Champions League last-16 first leg against Real Madrid - for his next appearance.
