Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jay Spearing has said that it was the right time to leave boyhood club Liverpool this summer.
The 24-year-old made the switch to Lancashire permanent on Friday after spending last season on loan at the Reebok.
"I've been [at Liverpool] since the age of seven and I've known nothing else," he told BBC Radio Manchester.
"Once you get to this age now and the first-team regular football wasn't coming at Liverpool, it was time for me to move on."
Spearing made 45 starts for Liverpool in five years.
