Championship club-by-club transfer latest: July 2

Sports Mole reviews the transfer activity of the past seven days in the Championship.

With the summer transfer window now formally open, clubs in the Championship are expected to pick up the pace in the market with the new season now just a little over a month away.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the activity of all 24 teams over the past seven days.

Birmingham City

After several new arrivals in May and June, Lee Clark appears to have halted the incomings for the time being and has suggested that there might be just one more new arrival this summer.

One plus for Blues fans is that Will Packwood has signed a new contract, but Chris Burke and Nikola Zigic have now left the club after their contracts expired.

Blackburn Rovers

Gary Bowyer has said that the club is "tirelessly working" to sign new players and today they announced the arrival of Luke Varney on a permanent contract.

The Ewood Park outfit also revealed today that mutual agreements have been reached for the departures of DJ Campbell and Dixon Etuhu.

Blackpool

Jose Riga is yet to really make his mark on the seaside with Blackpool and reportedly missed out on signing Luton Town striker Andre Gray, who opted for newly-promoted Brentford instead.

One outgoing player could be goalkeeper Matt Gilks, who is thought to have caught the eye of Burnley.

Bolton Wanderers

The Trotters officially welcomed six new players to the newly-renamed Macron Stadium today, but also said goodbye to Andre Moritz and Arran Lee-Barrett.

Dougie Freedman has also admitted that he would be interested in signing free agent Jonathan Parr following his release by Crystal Palace.

Bournemouth

The Cherries don't want to lose Simon Francis and revealed yesterday that they have rejected two bids from Derby County for the right-back.

Steve Cook is another defender that interests other clubs, but Bournemouth are confident of tying him down to a new contract. There has been one arrival at Dean Court in the past week, with Junior Stanislas joining from Burnley.

Brentford

After losing Clayton Donaldson last week to Birmingham, Brentford made up for the loss by signing Moses Odubajo and Andre Gray.

Another positive for the Bees is that manager Mark Warburton has signed a new contract at Griffin Park.

Brighton & Hove Albion

A turbulent week at the Amex after Sammy Lee's decision to change his mind on joining Albion and instead take up a role at Southampton.

Goalkeeper Casper Ankergren and defenders Bruno and Inigo Calderon yesterday signed new contracts, but leading striker Leonardo Ulloa could try to force his way out.

Cardiff City

A quiet week in the Welsh capital, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still believed to be interested in signing Leeds United striker Ross McCormack. Don Cowie also looks set to sign on despite interest from Rangers.

Cardiff's star players are expected to be the subject of Premier League interest, with Steven Caulker reportedly on Crystal Palace's radar and Jordan Mutch the subject of a bid from Sunderland.

Charlton Athletic

The Addicks look set to lose Diego Poyet after the teenage son of Sunderland boss Gus rejected a contract offer.

There has been one other departure, with Adebayo Azeez joining AFC Wimbledon on a free.

Derby County

It's been a busy week at the iPro Stadium. Jeff Hendrick, Craig Forsyth, Jake Buxton and Will Hughes all signed new contracts, while Lee Naylor and Zak Whitbread joined on one-year deals.

Teenage winger Alefe Santos has also become a Ram, but it doesn't look like Simon Francis will do the same after Bournemouth rejected two Derby bids for the right-back.

Steve McClaren is also said to be interested in Wigan Athletic's James McClean, who could be a replacement if Jamie Ward departs.

Fulham

The Cottagers remain the favourites to sign McCormack from Leeds, but will have to fork out a sizeable sum to sign last season's top scorer in the division.

Fulham lost a German right-back in Sascha Riether, but replaced him with another one in Tim Hoogland.

Huddersfield Town

After being linked with a loan move for Manchester United defender Michael Keane, Huddersfield have reportedly prepared themselves to miss out on signing him because of interest from other clubs.

The Terriers are also said to be expecting a bid from Middlesbrough for midfielder Adam Clayton.

Ipswich Town

After a very quiet summer, things have started happening at Portman Road. Manager Mick McCarthy has signed a new contract and the Tractor Boys have been able to add Cameron Stewart and Stephen Hunt on permanent deals.

Ipswich's most valuable asset is probably Aaron Cresswell, a player that West Bromwich Albion are believed to have a strong interest in.

Leeds United

Although the club have a new owner this summer in Massimo Cellino, they have yet to really make their mark in the market because of a transfer embargo. However, that is soon to be lifted and there is expected to be an influx of Italians because of Cellino's links in Serie A.

It looks like McCormack is on his way and joining him will be Marius Zaliukas and Stephen Warnock.

Middlesbrough

Aitor Karanka tried to use his Spanish links to sign Juanfran, but the defender has reportedly shunned a move to Teesside because he is worried that he will be homesick.

Marvin Emnes looks set to leave, with Swansea City thought to be closing in on the forward.

Millwall

After capturing their third player of the summer last week, it's been ever so quiet at The Den recently.

Norwich City

Another new arrival in Kyle Lafferty, but the Canaries have lost one of their best players, with Robert Snodgrass leaving for Hull City in the Premier League. Martin Olsson could also be on his way with West Brom said to be keen on the Swede.

Norwich are one of the clubs linked with a move for McCormack, but manager Neil Adams has insisted that they haven't made an offer for the Leeds man.

Nottingham Forest

Following the attacking arrivals of Matty Fryatt and Lars Veldwijk, it's looking like Simon Cox will be sold. Apart from that, it's been a stale week at the City Ground.

Reading

Another club keeping their cards close to their chest are Reading. Nigel Adkins has been restricted in what he can do and might have to sell Garath McCleary if West Brom make a good offer.

Rotherham United

Steve Evans continues to bring plenty of new faces to the Millers. This week five more - Ryan Hall, Richard Wood, Febian Brandy, Frazer Richardson and Paul Green - arrived at the New York Stadium.

Sheffield Wednesday

Despite new owner Hafiz Mammadov reportedly having financial trouble in France, Wednesday have stepped up their pursuit of Roger Johnson, who spent a chunk of last season on loan at Hillsborough before finishing it in the Premier League with West Ham United.

Watford

The Hornets will have delighted their fans when they announced the re-signing of Matej Vydra on loan from Udinese. The Czech was a fan favourite during his time at Vicarage Road in 2012-13, but didn't have such a good time in the Premier League on loan at West Brom last season.

Vydra's arrival could be enough to persuade Watford to part company with Troy Deeney - another player that West Brom are believed to be looking at.

Wigan Athletic

Two new faces at the DW Stadium this week following the signings of James Tavernier and Oriol Riera.

James McClean could be on his way, if Derby get what they reportedly want.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Carl Ikeme put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, but Tongo Doumbia and Kevin Foley are to leave Molineux.

Kevin Doyle and Stephen Ward are also thought to be on their way out, but Wolves are yet to have any satisfactory bids for the duo.
