Maurizio Sarri will reportedly be offered a route out of Chelsea by Roma after the Italian side missed out on top choice Antonio Conte.

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri will reportedly be offered the chance to return to Serie A with Roma next season.

The 60-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge is rumoured to be under consideration, despite guiding the club back into the Champions League and taking them to the brink of the Europa League final.

Sarri remains unpopular with a large section of fans and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich may look for a change of direction in the summer.

According to The Telegraph, Roma are waiting to make an approach for the Italian after missing out on Antonio Conte, who turned down their job offer.

The report claims that Sarri is the Giallorossi's second choice to replace caretaker boss Claudio Ranieri and he would be open to a return to the Italian top flight, where he finished as a runner-up with Napoli last season.

Chelsea chiefs are said to have been left pleasantly surprised by their positive end to the campaign, but it may not be enough to save Sarri's job.
