Ipswich Town beat Leeds United 3-0 at Portman Road thanks to a brace from David McGoldrick after the visitors were reduced to 10 men.

A brace from David McGoldrick and a strike from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas helped Ipswich Town to a 3-0 win over 10-man Leeds United this afternoon.

Neil Warnock's side began the game on the front foot and could have been ahead through Stephen Warnock but his corner somehow hit the post, and on the rebound David Norris's effort was cleared off the line.

Ipswich keeper Scott Loach then made two good stops to keep his side level, first to deny Norris and then minutes later with a double save from efforts from Paul Green and Michael Tonge.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Tom Lees was given a straight red card for a high boot on Town midfielder Jay Tabb just before the break.

On the stroke of half time, David McGoldrick gave Ipswich the lead as he headed the ball past Paddy Kenny after Luke Hyam's initial header clattered off the bar.

The same combination for Ipswich doubled the lead after half time as Hyam's cross into the area was met by McGoldrick, who fired the ball into the net with his left foot.

Ipswich got their third in the 68th minute when Jay Emmanuel-Thomas picked up the ball and turned onto his left foot and beat Kenny with a shot into the bottom corner.
