Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Sheffield United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final showdown with Sheffield United on Sunday.

Chelsea will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel to 14 matches when they face off against Sheffield United in Sunday's FA Cup showdown.

The Blues head into this quarter-final having just booked their spot in the last eight of the Champions League, as goals from Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri saw the Blues cruise past Atletico Madrid 2-0 on the night and 3-0 on aggregate in midweek.

Chelsea have already overcome Morecambe, Luton Town and Barnsley to reach the last eight of England's premier cup competition, and Tuchel will be boosted by the return of some key players for the weekend's meeting with the Blades.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Tammy Abraham

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 21 (vs. Sheffield United)

Tammy Abraham continues to struggle with an ankle problem and was not ready to take part against Atletico. Tuchel has affirmed that the striker is feeling better and training with the team, so he is in with a good chance of being available for this game.

Thiago Silva

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: April 3 (vs. West Brom)

Thiago Silva's thigh problem kept him out of Wednesday's second leg, but the defender was nonetheless involved in the game through his impassioned shouting from the stands. Silva should be ready to return to action once the international break is over.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: March 21 (vs. Sheffield United)

The rejuvenated Andreas Christensen did not take part against Atletico in midweek due to illness, and while the Danish defender does not have coronavirus, he remains a doubt for the cup.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Mason Mount and Jorginho were both suspended for Wednesday's game against Atletico but are back here, and Chelsea have no other players banned for the FA Cup quarter-final.
