Bolton vs. Peterborough - prediction, team news, lineups

Bolton Wanderers will be looking to bounce back from a midweek defeat when they play host to Peterborough United in Saturday's League One encounter.

In contrast to their hosts, Peterborough will be in high spirits after sweeping past Blackpool in Tuesday's home outing.

Match preview

Bolton will head into the weekend in 14th position after winning five, drawing two and losing four of their 11 league games this season.

The Trotters recently put together an impressive run of form, collecting four wins in the space of five league matches (D1).

Unfortunately for Bolton, their five-game unbeaten league run was brought to an end in Tuesday's away meeting with leaders Birmingham City.

A Tomoki Iwata strike and a Jay Stansfield penalty fired Birmingham to a 2-0 win and condemned Bolton to their second away defeat of the League One season.

After failing to take anything from their midweek road trip, Ian Evatt's side will now return to the Toughsheet Community Stadium where they have taken seven points from their last three home league matches.

The Trotters have avoided defeat in their previous four games against Peterborough, although they had to be content with a share of the spoils in last season's two meetings.

Peterborough are one point better off than Bolton in 12th position after winning five, drawing three and losing five of their 13 league matches.

Posh enjoyed a successful outing in midweek, producing a free-scoring display to ease to a 5-1 victory over Blackpool at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Joel Randall netted a brace alongside a Malik Mothersille strike, a Kwame Poku effort and an Odeluga Offiah own goal as Peterborough extended their unbeaten home run to six games in all competitions.

While they may be in fine form on home turf, Peterborough have gone four consecutive away league games without a win since beating Exeter City on August 24.

In fact, Posh have lost their last three away league games, conceding three goals in each of those matches to contribute to the 25 goals that they have conceded in League One this season - more than any other team in the division.

Team News

Bolton midfielder George Thomason will be sidelined until November after he recently picked up a hamstring injury in training.

Carlos Mendes Gomes remains unavailable for selection, while it remains to be seen whether Gethin Jones and Jordi Osei-Tutu will recover in time for Saturday's fixture.

Defender Eoin Toal will also have to be assessed after being forced to miss the last two matches with a knock that he picked up while on international duty.

As for the visitors, they still have to cope without the services of Jadel Katongo, Chris Conn-Clarke, Hector Kyprianou, Rio Adebisi and Mahamadou Susoh.

Emmanuel Fernandez could return to the centre of Peterborough's backline after being suspended for the win over Blackpool.

Poku will continue to offer one of the visitors' main attacking threats, having registered seven goals and four assists in 13 league appearances this season.

Bolton Wanderers possible starting lineup: Southwood; Dacres-Cogley, Santos, Johnston; Williams, Dempsey, Sheehan, Collins, Schon; McAtee, Charles

Peterborough United possible starting lineup: Bilokapic; Curtis, Fernandez, Wallin, Sparkes; Collins, De Havilland; Poku, Randall, Mothersille; Jones

We say: Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Peterborough United

Bolton may have experienced disappointment in their midweek away clash with Birmingham, but they have won two of their last three home league games, and we think that they will claim another home win against a Peterborough side that have lost each of their previous three away matches.
