Manchester United and Real Madrid will apparently be forced to concede defeat in their efforts to sign Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, who is reportedly close to penning a new contract at the Allianz Arena.

The 24-year-old's renewal saga has dragged on for months, and he is now free to hold talks with foreign clubs after entering the last six months of his agreement with the Bundesliga leaders.

The strongest interest in Davies's services is believed to have come from Old Trafford and the Bernabeu, as both Man United and Real Madrid could overhaul their left-back department next year.

The Red Devils' long-serving option Luke Shaw cannot be relied upon to stay fit, while the seldom-seen Tyrell Malacia is thought to be on the wishlist of Italian upstarts Como.

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli on a long-term contract, forcing Liverpool to look elsewhere in their pursuit of a game-changing attacker.

The 23-year-old has committed to the French champions for the next four-and-a-half seasons until the summer of 2029 and becomes the first-ever Georgian player to represent Les Parisiens.

PSG are understood to have paid Napoli €70m (£59.2m) to bring Kvaratskhelia to the Parc des Princes, where he will endeavour to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappe's exit to Real Madrid last summer.

Kvaratskhelia leaves Napoli having registered 30 goals and 29 assists in 107 matches for the Partenopei, with whom he won the 2022-23 Serie A title and was named the MVP of the Italian top flight.

Neymar has reportedly entered talks with American side Chicago Fire over a possible move to MLS.

The 32-year-old has spent an injury-riddled 18 months at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where the former superstar has spent plenty of time in the medical room.

Neymar has managed just seven appearances for the Middle East giants since the high-profile switch from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023.

The attacker has featured in only two matches for Al-Hilal during the 2024-25 campaign, both of those appearances arriving in the AFC Champions League Elite.

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Omar Marmoush is in talks over a transfer to an unspecified club amid claims that Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement for his signature.

The Egypt international was a notable absentee from Die Adler's squad to face Borussia Dortmund in Friday's Bundesliga clash, fuelling speculation that his Etihad switch was close to completion.

Marmoush was not believed to have been carrying any sort of injury, and Frankfurt have now announced that the 25-year-old has not been included in the squad to meet Dortmund as talks continue.

While the 2021-22 Europa League winners did not directly announce that Marmoush was discussing a switch to Man City, it is believed that the Premier League champions are on the brink of sealing a deal.

Arsenal's mission to sign a new striker in the January transfer window is likely to end in failure, unless they can "force the arm" of a club to sell a player running down the last year of his contract.

That is the view of Gunners legend Ray Parlour, who spoke exclusively to Sports Mole about the prospect of Arsenal bolstering their attacking ranks after Gabriel Jesus was ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Arteta has already publicly confirmed that the club are working to bring in a new centre-forward in the coming weeks, but three-time Premier League winner Parlour would not be surprised to see the Gunners' attempts end up proving fruitless.

"I don't think they're going to bring anyone in the transfer window, because it's really difficult to get the right players, and you just don't want to go out and spend money for sake of it," Parlour said. "But certainly in the summer, they've got really put all their attentions on attacking players.
