Manchester United could re-sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to explore the possibility of re-signing experienced goalkeeper Tom Heaton at the end of the campaign.

The 35-year-old has not made a single first-team appearance for Villa during the 2020-21 season, having lost his number one position to Emiliano Martinez.

Heaton's contract at Villa Park is due to expire at the end of June, and according to The Sun, Man United are considering bringing the Englishman back to Old Trafford.

The report claims that the Red Devils want another experienced stopper to arrive this summer due to the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Sergio Romero and Lee Grant.

David de Gea and Dean Henderson have been competing for the number one spot at the club this term, and the latter is currently in charge of the gloves.

Heaton represented Man United between 2002 and 2010 but never made a first-team appearance for the club.

The three-time England international has played 116 times in the Premier League, though, during his time with Burnley and Villa.
