Good morning folks and thank you for joining me on day three of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Some 87 medals will be won today in total so stay tuned to see just how many our home nations claim.

England gold medallist Joanna Rowsell has been showing off the fruits of her labours following success in the individual pursuit event on Friday.

Scotland's Sarah Clark is hopeful that her gold medal success in the Commonwealth Games can be among the catalysts to spark a golden generation for judo in the coming years. The 36-year-old beat Helene Wezeu Dombeu of Cameroon on Friday to pick up the host nation's third gold of the Games in judo alone.

It's always great to see an example of how age is just a number, and this will be perfectly exemplified in the shooting event of the Games today as 60-year-old Mick Gault came out of retirement and now looks to equal a Commonwealth Games record of 18 medals. We duff our caps...

From the old to the young now, as 23-year-old shooter Dan Rivers expresses his relief at holding his nerve to claim a bronze medal at Carnoustie on Friday.

UPDATE: England's womens netball team are 16-11 up over old foes Australia at the beginning of the second quarter of their second Pool game. The home nation had to settle for a bronze in Delhi four years ago after being denied a place in the finals by the Aussies.

Rugby sevens ace Dan Norton is hoping that England's failure to secure a medal in Delhi four years ago can aid their quest to a podium finish in this year's Commonwealth Games. Team England missed out on the bronze by losing to South Africa in 2010, but Norton and co have a shot at redemption this weekend as the sevens event begins in Glasgow today.

MEDAL UPDATE: Francesca Jones has won a silver medal for Wales in the individual hoop event this morning after being pipped to the gold by Canada's Patricia Bezzoubenk. More detail here!

Little more on Mick Gault now. The 60-year-old, 17-time Commonwealth Games medallist remains on course for an 18th podium finish after making the final for the 10m air pistol. The veteran faces stiff competition from compatriot Stewart Nangle, however, who qualified in second place.

MEDAL UPDATE: She's only gone and done it again, folks! Francesca Jones wins her fourth medal of the Games - and her second silver of the MORNING - in the individual ball event, having earlier claimed second place in the individual hoop. Click here for full report.

Scotland's Cameron Brodie and England's Roberto Pavoni both qualify for tonight's 200m butterfly final - albeit in contrasting manners of qualification! Check out how they did it here.

Meanwhile, it's heartbreak for England's netball team, who lost to Australia by a single point! Here's how they did it.

A nice picture of Wales's Commonwealth heroines of the morning as Francesca Jones and Laura Halford celebrate winning silver and bronze respectively in their individual ball event earlier today.

It's a cricket score, but it's not cricket! Sri Lanka may be in control of their current Test against South Africa, but the South Asians have endured contrasting fortunes in their opening rugby sevens clash at the Commonwealth Games, losing 62-7 to Australia. They did, however, earn a standing ovation from the Ibrox support after scoring one try of their own. A moral victory, if nothing else.

Click here to find out Stephani Sherlock had to say to our Glasgow-based correspondent Pascal Lemerse when she spoke exclusively to Sports Mole.

Cheers Shane! That's right, I'll be taking you through the next four hours, with an array of medals to be won in rhythmic gymnastics, lawn bowls, shooting and weightlifting.

We will bring you full reports on each event as they and when they finish. But first we have some reaction from England's narrow defeat against Australia earlier today, with centre Serena Guthrie critical of Australia's play.

MEDAL UPDATE! After what was a terrible start to the Games for Team Wales, things are starting to look up. One of the stars of Glasgow 2014, Francesca Jones, has this afternoon won her country's first gold. Read more here.

Some more reaction from England's slender defeat at the hands of Australia in the netball event now. Coach Anna Mayes has said that she is "proud" of her players, but Geva Mentor could not hide her heartbreak following the match at the SECC arena.

MEDAL UPDATE! It is another gold for England in the triathlon event, this time in the mixed team relay. The team of Alistair Brownlee, Jonny Brownlee, Vicky Holland and Jodie Stimpson put in a dominant display throughout to take top spot ahead of South Africa and Australia. Find out how they did it by clicking here.

Jess Varnish will come up against Olympic champion Anna Mears in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome later today after progressing past teammate Vicky Williamson. The task in hand may sound daunting, but the 23-year-old says that she is "really looking forward" to the challenge.

England's gymnasts are hard at work behind the scenes...

MEDAL UPDATE: Time to bring you another up to date with another medal result. Scotland have secured silver in the mixed pairs lawn bowl event, although they had a brilliant opportunity to win gold on their home turf.

MEDAL UPDATE! I will let the athlete do the talking on this one...

More on that result from the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre, as Rory Warlow adds another medal to England's collection.

One of the star attractions of the Commonwealth Games, Mr. Usain Bolt, has today told reporters that his injury problem has "completely gone". Good news for event organisers with athletes pulling out as the days go by.

MEDAL UPDATE! It's turning into a great day for India. After bagging silver in the men's 10m air rifle final earlier, Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul have picked up a gold and silver medal respectively in the women's equivalent. More on that can be found here.

That's the end of my four-hour stint, I'll now pass you over to Matt Domm who will continue our rolling Commonwealth Games coverage.

Thanks Dan. Hello again folks - I'm here until 8pm. There is plenty of boxing to come later on this evening at the SECC, while we're currently getting back underway with the cycling. There are medals up for grabs in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome later on, but we have qualifiers up first.

We have some reaction from Wales's Francesca Jones in response to her brilliant gold in the rhythmic gymnastics ribbon event.

She admitted that she is incredibly proud to become the first Welsh gold medallist of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

MEDAL! British medal in the women's 10km scratch race a few minutes ago, as Elinor Barker claims bronze behind Australian pair of Annette Edmondson and Amy Cure. It was close to more for Britain, but England's Dani King and Scotland's Katie Archibald were fourth and fifth.

Fantastic finish from Scotland just a few minutes ago as they take their B2 tandem final to a decider against Australia - the velodrome will be buzzing for that!

Vicky Varnish around half an hour ago, however, for England, was defeated by Anna Meares in her sprint semi-finals and will now contest for bronze.

GOLDS! A fantastic last half-hour or so for two of the home nations. First, Zoe Smith takes first place in the -58kg weightlifting competition, while Scotlans did successfully overturn that 1-0 deficit to Australia to pip them to the gold. Great stuff from Zoe as well as the tandem pair of Neil Fachie and Craig Maclean.

GOLD! Wales earn their second top gong of the day as Natalie Powell comfortably sees off Gemma Gibbons in the final of the -78kg judo final. Gibbons was not at all happy with her performance, but it was a really strong showing from the Welsh fighter.

'Seeing the flag blew my mind'

Team England's Gemma Gibbons has admitted that she wasn't good enough to defeat Wales's Natalie Powell in their gold-medal match in the women's -78kg.

He said: "It was [disappointing], to be fair. We didn't put out the performance we wanted really, but I guess what's important is that we're through to the quarter-finals.

"That couldn't really help us, the two yellow cards, but to be honest the game is won and lost and it's up to us really. We've got to take that on the chin. We can't really blame anything on the ref or anything like that, so it was just unfortunate and we'll look to get better tomorrow."

Thanks for joining our coverage of the Commonwealth Games today. We'll be back at 9am tomorrow with Shane Callaghan, but until then, goodbye.
