Adam Gemili: 'I can push for a medal'

Adam Gemili feels that there is no reason why he cannot push for a medal in the 100m at the Commonwealth Games when he gets his campaign underway on Sunday.

Team England sprinter Adam Gemili believes that he can challenge for a medal at the Commonwealth Games.

The 20-year-old has impressed this year as he set his personal best in the 100m earlier this month with a time of 10.05 seconds, and he feels that is more than capable of finishing in the top three in a major final.

Gemili told reporters: "I'm still learning. I'm 20 and I've hopefully still got a long time in the sport. I've done a few Diamond Leagues this year and put myself on the senior circuit and got that sort of experience to go and run.

"I don't see why I can't realistically go and make the final at these championships and hopefully be pushing for a medal."

Gemili will get his campaign underway on the track on Sunday.
