Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly wants Blancos players to take another 10% pay cut in order to avoid more major losses amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Real Madrid chiefs are reportedly planning another 10% salary cut for players as the club looks to avoid further losses amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Los Blancos initially agreed a 10% wage decrease with their players back in April when stadiums were first forced to close and numerous leagues across the globe were brought to a halt.

Fans are beginning to return to Premier League grounds, but teams in La Liga are still playing behind closed doors, leading to further losses heading into the new year.

According to 2Playbook, Real will ask their stars to take a second 10% hit on their wages in the coming weeks, with the La Liga champions facing losses of up to £273m amid the viral outbreak.

The report claims that Real president Florentino Perez is keen to negotiate a straight salary cut instead of the method employed by Barcelona, who are instead consulting with their players over a deferral of wages.

Zinedine Zidane's side are next in action on Wednesday when they play host to Borussia Monchengladbach in a crunch match in the Champions League.
