Everton are in 'advanced negotiations' with Real Madrid for Colombian attacker James Rodriguez, according to a report.

Everton are reportedly in 'advanced negotiations' with Real Madrid for James Rodriguez.

The Colombia international is widely expected to leave the Bernabeu during this summer's transfer window, and a number of clubs have been credited with an interest in his services.

A recent report claimed that Rodriguez's agent Jorge Mendes had already held talks with both Manchester United and Juventus ahead of this summer's transfer window.

Everton have also been consistently linked with the South American in recent weeks, though, and according to Il Giornale, the Toffees are in 'advanced negotiations' for the playmaker.

The report claims that Carlo Ancelotti was desperate to bring Rodriguez to Napoli last summer, and the Italian is now hopeful of signing the 28-year-old for Everton.

The attacker, who will be out of contract at the Bernabeu at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, has also previously been linked with both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal.
