Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Manchester United are heading in the right direction'

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists that the club are heading in the right direction after a turbulent spell.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that the club are heading in the right direction.

The Red Devils have struggled for consistency in the early stages of the 2020-21 campaign and face a key game away to RB Leipzig next week as they look to book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

United have won each of their last three in the league, though, and are just five points off division leaders Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Saturday's clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Solskjaer has insisted that the club have made some beneficial decisions off the pitch during his time at the helm, and the Norwegian is confident that the 20-time English champions are firmly on the right track.

"You're always looking for ways of improving and we know we still have a lot to improve on. But I feel we have made some decisions that have benefitted us as a team and a club. Some of the signings we have made have come in and had a great influence," Solskjaer told Sky Sports News.

"As a manager, you are never 100% happy. You always want more and you always know that the demands and the standards here at Manchester United are the highest - as they should be. Of course, it's only at the end of the season that you know how well you have done. But we are moving up the table and playing better.

"I know the narrative is that we're really inconsistent and I'm not one to argue too much, but if you look back from when the lockdown started or even from the end of the January transfer window, I think we're one of the most consistent teams in the country."

Solskjaer has won 59, drawn 21 and lost 26 of his 106 games in charge of United, handing him a win record of almost 56%.
