Three Barcelona players 'refuse to sign pay cut opposition'

Barcelona trio Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Clement Lenglet and Frenkie de Jong reportedly refuse to sign a burofax against a proposed salary reduction at Camp Nou.

A trio of Barcelona players have reportedly expressed support for salary reductions and have refused to sign a burofax against a wage decrease.

The Catalan giants - like many clubs across the globe - have been severely hit financially in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and are facing losses of up to £88m in revenue.

However, while a large majority of Blaugrana players and staff have disagreed with a proposed restructure of payments, Catalunya Radio claims that Frenkie de Jong, Clement Lenglet and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are all in favour of the initiative.

With Barcelona trying to figure out how best to adapt to the current period of financial uncertainty, the Catalan giants are supposedly looking to pay their players' salaries in smaller instalments rather than go down the route of a full-blown pay cut.

Nevertheless, after the powers-that-be at Barcelona reportedly received the burofax without the signatures of De Jong, Lenglet or Ter Stegen, the club's lawyers are said to be taking the next steps to resolve the issue.

Ronald Koeman's side suffered their first defeat of the 2020-21 La Liga season on Saturday as Getafe overcame the Catalan powerhouses 1-0 in gameweek four.
