Uganda vs. Ghana - prediction, team news, lineups

Uganda face Ghana at Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday evening, with both teams looking to bounce back from defeats.

The Cranes lost woefully to Comoros, while the Black Stars were humbled by their West Africa neighbors Nigeria.

Match preview

Uganda were unable to withstand Comoros, losing 4-0 to the Southern Africans at Stade de Marrakech on Friday evening.

Paul Put's men conceded two goals in each half and could not find a way through, seeing their two-match winning streak come to an end.

Their third game of the year sees them face Ghana on Tuesday, having recorded a 2-0 victory over Kuwait before their defeat against Comoros.

This will be the ninth meeting between the Cranes and the Black Stars, with the East Africans recording just one victory - a 1-0 win in an African Cup of Nations qualifier in 2014 - alongside three defeats and four draws.

Having conceded four goals for the first time since a 4-2 loss to Uzbekistan in March 2022, and failing to score for the first time in three games last time out, Put will hope his side can bounce back quickly against the Black Stars.

Ghana's winless run stretched to six matches when they lost 2-1 to Nigeria in the "Jollof derby" on Friday evening.

Jordan Ayew scored a consolation for the Black Stars from the penalty spot in stoppage time, after they had already conceded twice and lost Jerome Opoku to a red card in the 56th minute.

Ghana's last win came on November 17, 2023, a 1-0 victory over Madagascar. Since then, they have lost 1-0 to Comoros, drawn 0-0 with Namibia, failed to win any of their three matches at the 2023 AFCON, and lost to Nigeria last time out.

With Otto Addo returning to the Black Stars dugout after resigning in 2022, there is hope that things could improve. However, his second spell has begun with a defeat, and the pressure could build if they fail to pick up a win against Uganda.

Team News

Khalid Aucho and Abdul Aziizi Kayondo were part of Uganda's original 26-man squad for the friendlies in March but had to pull out due to injuries.

With nine goals in 25 caps, Fahad Bayo will be the man to look out for in the Cranes' attack on Tuesday.

Ghana are without some of their go-to stars with Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey missing for the March friendlies.

In the absence of Kudus, Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo are the players responsible for producing the spark in attack.

Opoku will not feature Ghana after receiving a red card in the defeat to Nigeria, offering a chance for Kasim Nuhu to play from the start.

Uganda possible starting lineup: Ikara; Semakkula, Bwomono, Mugabi, Sibbick; Ssekiganda, Kyambadde, Mugume; Karisa, Omedi, Bayo

Ghana possible starting lineup: Ati-Zigi; Lamptey, Addo, Nuhu, Kpozo; Samed, Baba; Semenyo, Forson, Nuamah; J. Ayew

We say: Uganda 1-2 Ghana

Otto Addo took Ghana to the 2022 World Cup and we will believe that his return could spark something good for the Black Stars. While they lost to AFCON finalists Nigeria, we think they will be able to edge out an Ugandan side lacking in quality.
