Real Madrid are said to have agreed a deal to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, with terms on his £50m release clause having been accepted.

The Cherries centre-back has enjoyed an excellent season on the south coast, helping guide Bournemouth to their highest ever Premier League points tally (53) with two games still to play.

There is still a chance that 10th-placed Bournemouth could qualify for Europe, though boss Andoni Iraola is unlikely to be able to lead his side into Europe next term with Huijsen at the club.

The 20-year-old can be bought for a fee of £50m, with sides such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all credited with an interest in his signature.

Liverpool have reportedly identified RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida as an alternative to Jeremie Frimpong in their hunt for a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Though the Reds have been declared Premier League champions, supporters' mood was somewhat dampened by Alexander-Arnold's announcement that he intends to leave Anfield in the summer.

Fans have speculated about potential successors to the right-back, and Bayer Leverkusen's Frimpong has been touted as a possible candidate.

However, there are concerns about whether the wing-back would be able to adapt to playing in a four-man defence given he has predominantly played in a back five in Germany.

While Sancho's numbers this season are impressive, the bulk of his strong displays have come in the Conference League, and he has only managed three goals and five assists in 30 Premier League matches.

For the 16th-placed side in the Premier League standings, the 23-year-old has made the net ripple on just three occasions in 32 league appearances.
