Hello there - happy Transfer Deadline Day everyone!

So then, where to start on the craziest transfer day of the summer? How about I bring you all the news that has come to light overnight. There's quite a bit of it!

Man United agree Falcao fee?

Man United command Welbeck loan fee?

Cleverly move to Villa in doubt?

Valdes in talks with Liverpool?

Man United confident of De Jong deal?

Even on Transfer Deadline Day, it's unusual for there to be much action during the morning, but it seems to be different on this occasion. A whole host of clubs are thought to be keen to make significant additions to their squads. Radamel Falcao appears to be the hottest topic, with both Manchester clubs said to be keen on signing the Monaco striker in a £50m deal.

If the Colombian does move to the Premier League, that could see a major departure at United or City. It has been suggested that either Danny Welbeck or Javier Hernandez could be loaned out by Louis van Gaal if he can add Falcao to his squad, while Alvaro Negredo has been linked with a return to Spain with Valencia if Falcao decides to move to the Etihad Stadium.

After their 3-0 drubbing by Liverpool yesterday, it is believed that Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for new signings. Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli is in North London to complete the formalities ahead of a move to White Hart Lane, but there are also suggestions that boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking for a reunion with Southampton attacker Jay Rodriguez, with Andros Townsend possibly being offered to the Saints in part-exchange.

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has been frozen out at the Etihad Stadium, but is today the day that he finally finds a new club? Sunderland and West Ham United are chasing the right-back, but it has been suggested this morning that Fiorentina could be the destination for the 26-year-old. That one came out of the blue!

Manchester United announced over the weekend that they had agreed a deal for Ajax midfielder Daley Blind, subject to personal terms and a medical. United are yet to give a further update regarding their pursuit of the Netherlands international but Juan Mata has taken to Twitter to welcome the 24-year-old to Old Trafford. Maybe an official announcement is imminent?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be in the market for a new centre-back, and according to reports, Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar may be the subject of his attentions. The Gunners only have three central defenders, so there could be some truth in that one.

We are yet to hear anything of Harry Redknapp so far, but after the sale of Loic Remy to Chelsea, the Queens Park Rangers manager is in the market for a new striker, with Jermain Defoe being suggested as a possible target. The former Spurs forward has only been at Toronto FC for five months, but as we know, anything can happen on Transfer Deadline Day...

There is a rumour doing the rounds that Radamel Falcao is on his way to Manchester on a private jet. If that proves to be true, I wonder who will be waiting for him at the airport...

Chelsea are believed to be closed for business as far as incomings are concerned, but they allowed one of their fringe players to complete a loan move last night, with Marco van Ginkel making the switch to AC Milan for the rest of the season. Here's a picture of the Dutchman at his new club.

There are expected to be plenty of departures from Old Trafford throughout the day and Nick Powell could be one of the Manchester United squad players to find pastures new. Leicester City have reportedly made a season-long loan bid for the 20-year-old

Guillem Balague is usually pretty reliable when it comes to breaking huge transfer news, and if he is correct with his latest revelation, it's going to be huge news for Manchester United...

I should add that there has been nothing official from Manchester United regarding Falcao, but it looks like it could be a goer. As we said earlier, that could also have repercussions for Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, who could be allowed to leave the club during the course of the day.

In a follow-up tweet, Balague has also suggested that if Alvaro Negredo departs Manchester City for Valencia, the Premier League champions are considering going through the first half of the season without signing a replacement.

With the injury to Olivier Giroud, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could be chasing a new attacking player, and it has been reported that the Frenchman would be prepared to spend £40m on Borussia Dortmund player Marco Reus. The German international wouldn't be a like-for-like replacement for Giroud, but he would definitely strengthen the Gunners in the final third.

There are now reports doing the rounds that while Falcao seems certain to be moving to Manchester United, it may be on a loan deal rather than for £50m. We will keep you posted!

Let's leave all things Manchester United for a second and bring you reports regarding Southampton. Coach Ronald Koeman is interested in signing Atletico Madrid left-back Toby Alderweireld on a season-long loan deal.

DONE DEAL! We have our first confirmed deal of the day and it comes at Villa Park. Midfielder Karim El Ahmadi has left the West Midlands side to return to Feyenoord on a three-year deal.

Away from Deadline Day, Carlisle United have sacked manager Graham Kavanagh after their disappointing start to the season. We are assuming that they haven't got any deals in the offing today.

It's only 10.30am and the news is coming thick and fast! We are only just getting started, folks...

BREAKING NEWS! Luis Suarez is back at Liverpool! Don't get too excited though - the Barcelona player is only back on Merseyside to pick up a few belongings from the training ground. On a more serious note, Liverpool could see a couple of players leave Anfield today, with Sebastian Coates, Lucas and Fabio Borini all being linked with a move away from the club.

Earlier, we mentioned that Micah Richards was on the verge of leaving Manchester City for Fiorentina, and a picture has now emerged of the right-back arriving at Florence airport.

It was surely considered a long-shot anyway, but Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has reportedly rejected a loan move to Championship club Birmingham City. The France international has fallen from grace at St James' Park, but he has indicated that he wants to remain in the North-East.

We informed you earlier that Harry Redknapp could be after a reunion with Jermain Defoe, but it looks like the Queens Park Rangers manager may be keen on signing another of his former players from Spurs. Midfielder Sandro is believed to be on the radar, as it Aaron Lennon.

Earlier this morning, there was talk of Arsenal registering an interest in Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar, but his agent Arnold Oosterveer has insisted that there is "no truth" in any rumours linking his player with a departure from Villa Park.

Most of this morning's news has involved clubs in the Premier League but we won't be neglecting the Football League. Sky Sports News are reporting that Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond could be Premier-League bound before the end of the day, while the Express & Star are suggesting that they could be about to part ways with defender Roger Johnson.

We are two hours into our coverage of the busiest transfer day of the year. Missed anything? Don't worry. Take a look at our Transfer Talk section by clicking here.

While we wait for more news regarding potential transfers, let's bring you a stat that will excite Manchester United supporters. Falcao has scored 200 goals in 305 appearances during his club career, which is a stunning strike-rate. Can he re-produce that at Old Trafford though? He's only just recovered from a serious knee injury, but if he can net 15-20 goals in the Premier League for his new club, I'm sure that he will be well received in the North-West.

DONE DEAL! News of an incoming at Middlesbrough. Head coach Aitor Karanka has added Heerenveen winger Yanic Wildschut to his squad at the Riverside Stadium.

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has been linked with a move to Aston Villa before the end of the transfer window, but it is being reported that the 25-year-old prefers a move to Everton, which would see him reunited with manager Roberto Martinez, who he played under during a loan spell at Wigan Athletic.

There has been talk of Newcastle United signing a defender before the end of the day, and that might coincide with a centre-back departing St James' Park. It is being reported that Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is on his way to Italy for talks with Roma.

After his arrival at Selhurst Park last week, Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is believed to be looking for new signings, and it has been suggested that the Eagles have agreed a deal for Wigan Athletic midfielder James McArthur.

Jermain Defoe is thought to be the focus of a few clubs today, and it's being reported that the Toronto FC striker has arrived in London ahead of a potential return to the Premier League. Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace have been suggested as possible destinations.

DONE DEAL! Blackburn Rovers have spent the past couple of weeks trying to fend off interest for in-demand striker Jordan Rhodes, but manager Gary Bowyer has managed to make an addition to his squad. Defender Shane Duffy has penned a three-year contract at Ewood Park.

DONE DEAL! Pictures of a player holding his new team's shirt seems to be popular today. Here's another - George Boyd has completed his move from Hull City to Burnley.

Pictures have also emerged of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger making the trip to Rome to play in a charity football match. As you can imagine, that hasn't gone down too well with supporters of the North London club, but could Wenger potentially be chasing a new striker - Mattia Destro has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea, but could he be a target for the Gunners? Only time will tell...

With George Boyd making the switch to Burnley, that frees up a space for Hull City Steve Bruce to enter the market for a replacement and it is being reported that West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame could be in his sights. Sam Allardyce has added Alex Song to his squad at Upton Park so there is unlikely to be much resistance to Diame leaving the club should they receive an acceptable offer.

On that note, I will take the opportunity to pass you over to Joe Fish, who will take you through the next four hours. It's been a hectic morning, but I promise you, we are only just getting started! Enjoy...

Darren is spot on - things are hotting up on deadline day! The proposed Radamel Falcao to Manchester United move has dominated the morning, but plenty of deals are being done elsewhere.

It is mostly ifs, buts and maybes at the moment, but expect serious movement throughout the day at the likes of Crystal Palace, Hull City, Southampton, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City's Matija Nastasic could be a target for any side wanting defensive reinforcements having fallen out of favour with the Premier League champions. It is being reported that the Serbian has turned down a loan move to West Ham United and is keen to stay at the Etihad Stadium and fight for his place. Everton and Arsenal are also interested and could turn Nastasic's head.

Of course the Falcao move will have repercussions on United's fringe forwards, and Javier Hernandez appears to be closing in on his loan move to Real Madrid, having undergone a medical in Spain. Danny Welbeck could also leave Old Trafford, with Spurs hoping to bring him in on loan.

More outgoings are expected at United, with Tom Cleverley interesting Everton, Aston Villa and Valencia. The much-maligned midfielder is not everybody's cup of tea though. Former professional boxer Curtis Woodhouse, now manager at semi-professional Goole FC, tweeted earlier:

After failing in their pursuit of Man City's Nastasic, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has apparently moved on to Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik. West Ham conceded three in losing at home to Southampton on Saturday and Allardyce seems to be intent on strengthening at the back.

As evidenced by the Nastasic deal, two clubs could be willing to sanction a deal but the player has the final word. Another unwanted player who has turned down a move is Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa, who has rejected an unlikely loan to Championship outfit Birmingham City.

DONE DEAL! Derby are one of the favourites to go up from the Championship and they have boosted their promotion hopes with the signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Tom Koblenz on a two-year deal. The 19-year-old had been on trial with last season's beaten playoff finalists earlier this summer.

That might not be the end of today's business at the iPro Stadium, with discussions continuing with Bournemouth over two possible deals. Derby want to sign former Portsmouth winger Matt Richie from their Championship rivals, while the Cherries hold an interest in Rams striker Jonny Russell.

Southampton were linked with an £11.8m move for Red Bull Salzburg winger Sadio Maine this morning, but it is now being claimed that Spurs are going to pip the Saints to the signing of the Senegal international. That may pave the way for Aaron Lennon or Andros Townsend, who has been the subject of two failed bids from Ronald Koeman's side this summer, to leave White Hart Lane.

Lennon, along with Spurs teammate Sandro have been touted as targets for former manager Harry Redknapp at QPR. Hoops defender Rio Ferdinand has admitted that the deadline-day guru appears to be busy in negotiations as he tries to bolster his squad before tonight's 11pm deadline.

It is never surprising on deadline day for Redknapp to be linked with a move for Jermain Defoe, whom he has signed three times during his career. What would be a MAJOR shock is if the former Spurs favourite ended up at their North London rivals Arsenal. Reports are emerging that his MLS club Toronto FC have offered the striker-short Gunners the chance to sign the England forward.

Crystal Palace are expected to be active right up until the close of the window following the appointment of Neil Warnock. We have already informed you that Zeki Fryers and James McArthur are imminent arrivals, and two more could follow them to Selhurst Park. This influx of players could trigger the departure of Glenn Murray to Reading. The striker led Palace's scoring charts in their promotion season.

French publication L'Equipe seem to be hot on the trail of West Ham's pursuit of a central defender, having reported their interest in Rennes centre-back Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik. They are now claiming that the Hammers are pondering a late loan swoop for Lazio's Michael Ciani.

With just under 10 hours to go until the window slams shut, Sports Mole rounds up all of the latest headlines and done deals, including the latest on Falcao, Defoe and Marco Reus.

DONE DEAL! Yeovil Town have taken Wolves midfielder Jack Price on a one-month loan.

Mane? Townsend? Southampton are desperate to bring in a winger, but who will it be? The latest reports suggest that they have missed out on Mane, but will sign former Spain international Diego Capel on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon. An announcement on that is expected shortly.

How quickly things can change on deadline day! Spurs have insisted that Townsend is not for sale on numerous occasions, but The Independent's Chief football correspondent Sam Wallace understands that they have offered him to the Saints in a player-plus-cash deal for currently injured forward Jay Rodriguez, who was a favourite of new Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino when he was at St Mary's.

UPDATE: That one has plenty of mileage left in it, but one deal that is nearing completion is James McArthur's £7m move to Crystal Palace. The Scottish midfielder, who had been linked with Leicester and Burnley, has been spotted at the Palace training ground ahead of his club-record move.

DONE DEAL! Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Javier Hernandez on a season-long loan from Manchester United. If you haven't heard, the Red Devils have a pretty good replacement lined up...

SIGNED! Swansea are reported to want two players before the end of the window and Garry Monk has got one through the door - Gambia-born striker Modou Barrow from Ostersunds.

Things are picking up pace now! Sky Sports News understands that offers have been lodged for Sandro and Chris Wood from QPR and Crystal Palace respectively. A Redknapp-Sandro reunion has been in the pipeline for a few days, while Palace have turned to Leicester's Wood in their search for a new striker. He scored in the 2-2 draw with Everton on the opening day of the Premier League season.

A potential move that is even further down the line is Mohamed Diame to Hull City with West Ham having accepted an offer, believed to be in the region of £3.5m, for the midfielder. The Tigers are also making progress in their attempts to sign Uruguayan forward Abel Hernandez from Palermo.

DEPARTURE! Sunderland have confirmed that defender Modibo Diakite by mutual consent. Valentin Roberge could also leave to make room for Sebastian Coates on loan from Liverpool.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has publicly admitted his frustration with the transfer market this summer, but could enjoy a productive deadline day if you believe the latest reports. Nathaniel Chalobah could be joining on loan from Chelsea, while QPR's Richard Dunne is their latest defensive target.

DONE DEAL! Wigan Athletic have beaten Wolves to the signature of Tours striker Andy Delort. The 22-year-old was unveiled prior to the Championship game with Birmingham City on Saturday.

PETR CECH LATEST! Some very interesting quotes from Petr Cech at the top of the hour. The goalkeeper has been dethroned as Chelsea's number one by Thibaut Courtois this season and it has been suggest that he may look elsewhere for regular first-team football.

"The offer would have to be right for everyone. I do not exclude anything [or] know the answer," he said.

Paris Saint-Germain have been Cech's main admirers throughout the summer while the wheeling-dealing Harry Redknapp has been linked with an audacious bid to bring him to QPR.

Leicester could yet be busy in the final hours of the window and apparently have two Manchester United players on their radar. Nigel Pearson wants to bring Nick Powell to the King Power Stadium on loan, and is also trying to sign 20-year-old forward Tom Lawrence on a permanent deal. Attacking reinforcements could be needed if they sanction the sale of Chris Wood to Crystal Palace.

Leicester are active then, and Arsene Wenger promised to be but as yet there are no signs of movement at Arsenal. The Gunners have missed the boat on Radamel Falcao, and it appears that another reported target, Adrien Rabiot, is off elsewhere too. Roma are believed to close to signing the defensive midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain after his mother demanded that he plays first-team football! The 19-year-old will take a pack lunch and a jumper with him to Italy in case it gets cold.

DONE DEAL! Wigan Athletic have finally completed the capture of the talented Adam Forshaw from Brentford for an undisclosed fee, having chased the midfielder for much of the summer.

SIGNED! Another drawn-out deal that has been finalised in the Championship is Jelle Vossen's loan to Middlesbrough. The Belgian striker has been a target of Boro manager Aitor Karanka for the last couple of months and joins on a season-long deal from Anderlecht.

MOVEMENT! The Championship activity does not stop there, with Brighton & Hove Albion loaning left-back Vitalijs Maksimenko to Dutch club VVV-Venlo for the rest of the season. Dropping down a league further, Notts County have snapped up former Wolves defender Jordan Cranston on a short-term deal until January. Cranston, 21 was most recently with non-league Nuneaton on non-contract terms.

Confirmation of one of the more bizarre stories from this window, with Saphir Taider having returned to Inter Milan having not featured at all for Southampton. The Algerian World Cup star joined the Saints as part of the deal that took Dani Osvaldo back to Italy, but has failed to settle in England and apparently failed to adapt to the intense training regime employed by Ronald Koeman.

SPURS! There could be plenty exits at Spurs today and Souleymane Coulibaly and Tomislav Gomelt have got the ball rolling. The two youngsters have joined Serie B side Bari on loan.

A flurry of the biggest deadline-day deals could be triggered by Falcao's arrival at United, and it appears as though the Colombian is on his flight to Manchester ahead of completing the season-long loan.

QPR seem to be losing their fight to strengthen in midfield areas. Lassana Diarra's proposed move to Loftus Road is OFF. The Hoops revealed over the weekend that they were close to signing the former Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth midfielder. That will increase their interest in Sandro, but reports are claiming that Spurs are demanding a fee of around £16m for the Brazilian.

Stoke may have thought that there transfer business was done last week, but a potentially serious injury suffered by Peter Odemwingie has changed those plans. Mark Hughes is now after an extra attacker and Manchester City outcast Scott Sinclair is the latest name to be mooted.

Aston Villa's priority today will be to retain captain and Dutch World Cup star Ron Vlaar amid apparent interest from Arsenal, but Paul Lambert has one eye on incomings as well. It is being reported that the Midlands club have launched a bid for Real Sociedad's attacking midfielder Sergio Canales.

It is expected to be a quiet day at Everton following their early failed bid for Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross, although Roberto Martinez could bring in a star of the future in Belgian striker David Henen. The 18-year-old has been in Merseyside for talks over a move from Anderlecht and is soon expected to pen a contract with the Toffees to serve as understudy to the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Eto'o.

DONE DEAL! Another Spurs departure as striker Jonathan Obika rejoins Swindon Town on a permanent deal. The 23-year-old spent one of many loan spells away from White Hart Lane at Swindon.

Swansea announced the arrival of young striker Modou Barrow from Ostersunds FK, but that will not have any implications on the future of Wilfried Bony, according to manager Garry Monk, who is very confident of keeping hold of the Ivorian despite reported interest from Spurs and Liverpool.

The list of players being linked with QPR passes 50 as Fabio Borini reportedly emerges as a target for Redknapp's men. The Hoops want a striker to replace Loic Remy and are reportedly ready to capitalise on the uncertain nature of Borini's proposed return to Sunderland from Liverpool.

And another name apparently on the Rangers radar is Marseille winger Andre Ayew. The French international is believed to have turned down a move to Hull City after a bid was accepted by his Ligue 1 employers, and QPR and Aston Villa are both lurking to pull off what would be a coup and a half.

Radamel Falcao's imminent move to Manchester United will not scupper Valencia's attempts to sign Alvaro Negredo on loan, according to a report. There were worries that Man City failing to land Falcao ahead of their cross-city rivals would mean that Manuel Pellegrini would be reluctant to allow Negredo return to Spain, but Valencia are believed to be confident of sealing a deal for the striker.

Spurs are playing the waiting game with Danny Welbeck, but were expected to have confirmed the signing of Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli by now. There has been no word from Tottenham on that one, but his French employers have hinted that the move is nearing completion.

"Signing for Tottenham is a great step forward," Montpellier coach Ronald Courbis said in the French press. "He should be able to join the French team. Tottenham had a very good idea to sign him."

Hull appear to have got their man! Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez has published a picture of himself at the Hull training ground on his official facebook page. The caption reads: "Abel Hernandez is a new player of Hull City A.F.C. having signed a four year contract with the English club." It is rumoured that the Tigers will pay £11m to Palermo for their Shane Long replacement, after he left for Southampton.

DONE DEAL! Burnley make their second signing of the day by bringing in Nathaniel Chalobah on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The talented midfielder, who has previously had spells at Watford, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough, follows George Boyd to Turf Moor.

QPR's move for Fabio Borini is progressing quickly and reports are now circulating that the Hoops have lodged a £10m bid for the Liverpool striker, who is a long-term target of Gus Poyet's Sunderland.

And we finish off the hour with a Sports Mole exclusive. The Wilfried Bony saga is over. We have learned through a source close to his agent that the Ivorian will be STAYING at Swansea. Bony had been linked with Spurs, Liverpool and most recently Arsenal after his 16-goal debut Premier League season.

That's it from me until later tonight, but Darren is back to guide you through the next few hours of a deadline day which is threatening to get very, very interesting! Radamel Falcao, Danny Welbeck, Fabio Borini, Jermain Defoe - we will keep you up to date on all these lines right up until the window shuts.

Hi again, everyone. Seven hours have passed since we started our coverage of Transfer Deadline Day, and with seven still to go, I imagine that we are still in the calm before the storm. There have been some huge deals reported already, most notably Falcao, but expect clubs to really start to speed up the incoming and outgoing process through the rest of the afternoon and this evening.

DONE DEAL! It has been reported for the past few days but Hull City have finally secured the signing of striker Abel Hernandez on a three-year deal. The 24-year-old has left Palermo to move to the KC Stadium. The Tigers have paid an undisclosed club-record fee for Hernandez, so the fee will be in excess of the £8m that Hull paid for Jake Livermore.

Before we crack on with the rest of the afternoon, I shall point you in the direction of our Transfer Talk page, which will give you a list of all the latest goings-on throughout the day.

Crystal Palace have been linked with a whole host of different names today, and here are two more. The Eagles are reportedly interested in signing midfielder Florent Malouda and striker Andy Johnson, with both being available on free transfers.

Staying with Crystal Palace, there was word that Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle was a potential target for Neil Warnock, but Molineux head coach Kenny Jackett has insisted that it will be a quiet evening at the Championship club.

Earlier this afternoon, a report emerged that Burnley were considering a move for Manchester United midfielder Anderson. One completely out of the blue, you would think? Well that appears to be the case. Burnley reportedly have no interest in the Brazilian.

Fulham midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe moved to Craven Cottage in January with high hopes of breaking into the first team in West London but it hasn't worked out for the former Manchester United player. After spending time on loan at Wigan Athletic, it looks like he could be spending a similar spell at either Blackburn Rovers or Ipswich Town.

One man who has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League over the summer is Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, but the 22-year-old has said that he will be remaining in Portugal for the foreseeable future.

After their shocking start to the season, you would expect Fulham to be in the market for new players, and according to The Guardian, that appears to be the case. It is believed that Bolton Wanderers striker Jermaine Beckford is in talks regarding a move to Craven Cottage.

Now then, this is interesting. TalkSPORT presenter Stan Collymore has tweeted that Arsenal have made tentative enquires about Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo. Valencia have also been suggested as a possible destination for the Spaniard.

With Falcao ready to sign a deal with Manchester United, AS Monaco are likely to be in the market for a replacement and it has been suggested that Roberto Soldado, who is considered as third choice at White Hart Lane, could make a move to the Ligue 1 club.

To follow up what we just said about Negredo to Arsenal, it is being reported by the Daily Mail that Valencia are now chasing Inter Milan player Zdravko Kuzmanovic. That could indicate that any move for the Manchester City striker has hit a snag, but there are still six hours to go for any problems to be sorted.

Sticking on the striker front, former Liverpool, Bolton Wanderers and Swansea City striker David Ngog has signed a two-year contract with French club Reims.

No sooner than he broke the news about Arsenal potentially being in for Alvaro Negredo, talkSPORT presenter Stan Collymore has quickly updated the situation by saying that his initial suggestion was untrue after he made contact with Manchester City.

DONE DEAL! After just a season at the Liberty Stadium, midfielder Jose Canas has left Swansea City to return to Spain to join Espanyol. The 27-year-old made 35 appearances during his time at the Welsh club.

The done deals are expected to come through thick and fast now, and one more that has been completed in the last few minutes is Lewis Holtby's loan move from Tottenham Hotspur to Hamburg. Chelsea have also confirmed that Marco van Ginkel has signed on loan with AC Milan for the rest of the season.

DONE DEAL! Reading have allowed winger Royston Drenthe to sign for Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday on a loan deal. He will remain at Hillsborough until January.

The hot topic of the day has been Radamel Falcao proposed loan move to Manchester United. It's widely expected that the Monaco striker will complete the formalities at Old Trafford before 11pm this evening, and that belief has been made stronger by the Colombian arriving in England.

DONE DEAL! We told you earlier that Benjamin Stambouli was in North London ahead of a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Well, it's now been confirmed that Spurs have wrapped up a deal for the Montpellier OSC midfielder.

Arsenal supporters are no doubt eager to see their team linked with a new signing, but with everything quiet on that front, the Gunners could be about to allow midfielder Francis Coquelin to move to Queens Park Rangers. Harry Redknapp has seen a transfer for Lassana Diarra fall through, so the Gunners player could be seen as a possible second-choice.

DONE DEAL! They may not have a permanent manager in place but that hasn't stopped Leeds United making a move in the transfer market. In the last few minutes, Leeds have secured the season-long loan signing of striker David Montenegro.

John Arne Riise has been a free agent since his departure from Fulham at the end of last season, but the Norwegian left-back has managed to find himself a new club. The Champions League winner has penned a deal at Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia.

More developments from the Championship now, and Norwich City midfielder Andrew Surman has made a temporary switch to former club Bournemouth.

With Falcao to Manchester United to be confirmed later today, the future of Danny Welbeck has been thrown up in the air. He has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but according to the London Evening Standard, the England international prefers a move to Arsenal and is at the Gunners' training ground.

There are less than five hours to go now. It's been a long day but there is still so much more to come.

Hull City have already make a huge move in the market today with the club-record acquisition of Abel Hernandez, and if stories are to be believed, manager Steve Bruce isn't finished for the day. West Bromwich Albion attacking midfielder Stephane Sessegnon is said to be the subject of interest as we enter the final few hours of the transfer window.

To follow up that Danny Welbeck story from earlier, Sky Sports News are reporting that the Manchester United striker is undergoing a medical at the Emirates Stadium. The England international had been at Arsenal's training ground with England, but it's now being suggested that the Gunners are prepared to take advantage of his availability to try to secure a loan transfer.

Toronto FC striker Jermain Defoe has been strongly linked with Queens Park Rangers, but according to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Leicester City have emerged as the new favourites for the former Tottenham Hotspur man.

Queens Park Rangers may have slipped down the pecking order as far as Jermain Defoe is concerned but it's a different story with Sandro. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is reporting undergoing a medical at Loftus Road.

Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair has been linked with a couple of teams today, but is he about to return to Swansea City? In the last few moments, SkyBet have shortened his odds of a move to the Liberty Stadium from 10/1 to 2/1.

DONE DEAL! It's been in the offing all day but Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates has completed his move to Sunderland. The 24-year-old has moved to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan deal.

Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega was linked with a transfer to Levante earlier today but it's another La Liga side who have entered the running for his signature. After failing to sign Alvaro Negredo, Valencia are now said to be favourites for the South American.

Stoke City are said to be in the running for several wingers - including Oussama Assaidi, Scott Sinclair and Nathan Redmond - but it now seems that another name can be added to that list. Spurs wideman Aaron Lennon could yet find himself at the Britannia Stadium.

Emmanuel Frimpong was once regarded as one of Arsenal's most promising youngsters but it's not gone so well for the midfielder over the past few years. After a disappointing spell with Barnsley last season, Frimpong's career will continue in Russia with a side called FC Ufa.

DONE DEAL! Steve Bruce is a busy man today! After breaking the club's transfer record to sign Abel Hernandez earlier today, the Hull City boss has now signed West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame for a fee believed to be in the region of £3.5m.

We have reached the four-hour mark - that's all that is left of the summer transfer window. It's been an eventful day so we have plenty of stories for you in our 7pm Transfer Talk Update, which you can view by clicking here.

There hasn't been much word today on Daley Blind's proposed move to Manchester United, but according to Sky Sports News, the transfer will still take place before 11pm this evening. That will be reassuring for United supporters who are desperate for their team to sign a defensive-minded player.

There are reports that Falcao will be earning £346,000 per week during his time at Old Trafford. Wow. That's an annual salary of nearly £18m. That's a remarkable figure.

It sounds as though the Tom Cleverley situation is a complicated affair. Let me try to explain. Aston Villa are keen to sign the Manchester United midfielder and are prepared to pay his asking price. However, Cleverley's preference is to remain in the North-Wast and prefers a move to Everton, but the Toffees are only interested in a loan deal. We will see how that develops throughout the evening.

Chelsea have got over 20 players currently away from Stamford Bridge on loan and they can add another name to the list after Islam Feruz made the move to OFI Crete.

DONE DEAL! Sunderland have already confirmed the loan signing of Sebastian Coates, and they have now added a second South American to their ranks. Gus Poyet has signed Inter Milan winger Ricky Alvarez on loan for the rest of the season.

It's been all about arrivals for Crystal Palace today, but Sky Sports News are reporting that striker Glenn Murray is on the verge of a switch to Reading. Since picking up a serious knee injury, Murray has only scored once in 17 appearances and that has seen him fall down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

The situation involving Danny Welbeck has changed repeatedly throughout the day and in the past five minutes, it has taken a different direction again. The Manchester United striker was thought to be having a medical at Arsenal, but it is now being said that the England international will not be moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp spoke to Sky Sports News around 20 minutes ago and despite reports to the contrary, he insisted that a move for midfielder Lassana Diarria could still happen before the close of the transfer window.

It's been on one minute and off the next, but according to Sky Sports News, Alvaro Negredo's move from Manchester City to Valencia is very much a goer and it's expected that the Spaniard will complete a loan move in the next few hours.

DONE DEAL! We await official confirmation from Manchester United but Ajax have said that Daley Blind has finalised his switch to Old Trafford.

DONE DEAL! It had been in place for a couple of days, but Cardiff City have pushed through with the signing of Gabon defender Bruno Ecuele Manga for an undisclosed fee from Lorient.

It's all gone a bit quiet regarding the possible departure of Matija Nastasic from Manchester City but it is being reported that Arsenal and Newcastle United remain interested in the centre-back, who has fallen down the ranks at the Eithad Stadium.

That's all from me for tonight, but I will pass all of the transfer drama onto Callum Mulvihill, who will take you through the next three hours. Enjoy!

Thank you Darren! Here we go then. Less than three hours left of the summer transfer window, and there is expected to be plenty more deals completed tonight. Of course, we are waiting for that Falcao move to Manchester United to be completed, but we'll continue to bring you the latest from all of the other clubs.

There's been reports all day that Harry Redknapp has been looking at his old club, Tottenham Hotspur, for possible new recruits, and talkSPORT are claiming that a deal to take Sandro to Loftus Road is close to being completed, with Spurs receiving £10m for the Brazilian.

Potentially bad news for Aston Villa supporters, with news in the past few moments suggesting that Sergio Canales has rejected the chance to move to the club. However, they could still be in the race to sign Tom Cleverley before the 11pm deadline.

DONE DEAL! I'm expecting to be talking about Arsenal quite a bit for the next few hours, but news of a departure now as Ryo Miyaichi makes the move to Holland to join FC Twente on loan.

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville has been having his say on his former club's transfer activity, claiming that it would be a "sad day" if Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck are allowed to leave Old Trafford this evening.

Could the Borini to QPR deal be at risk? The Italian is reportedly asking for wages of £90,000-a-week to make the switch to Loftus Road, which is more than the club are believed to be willing to pay for his services. QPR have agreed a fee with Liverpool in the region of £10m.

That Borini story seems to be gathering pace on the busiest evening of the summer for Premier League football clubs, with BBC Sport now reporting that the Italian's move to QPR is off. We'll bring you more when it arrives.

Emyr Huws moved to Wigan from Manchester City on a six-month loan earlier this summer, but it appears that he has impressed during his short stay with the Championship side. The midfielder will reportedly sign a permanent deal tonight, with the Latics paying around £2.5m to the Premier League champions.

Is this the last deal Spurs will be involved in tonight? Fryers is off to Palace after failing to convince Mauricio Pochettino that he is ready to be a regular.

DONE DEAL! Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Daley Blind on a four-year deal, with an option for a further 12 months. There's likely to be one more arrival before 11pm if Falcao can get a move on.

Hull fans might be starting to get very excited. In the past few moments there have been suggestions that the Tigers are looking to bring Hatem Ben Arfa in before the deadline. The Frenchman doesn't appear to be in Alan Pardew's plans at Newcastle. We'll keep an eye on that one.

Niko Kranjcar is a player we have not mentioned today, but the Croatian has just arrived at Loftus Road for talks with QPR. He was on loan at the club last season, and we know that Harry Redknapp is a big, big fan.

Celtic have been desperately searching for a striker following their worrying start to the season, and they are believed to be close to signing John Guidetti from Manchester City on loan.

Aaron Lennon was another Spurs player linked with a move away from White Hart Lane today, but the latest news suggests that the winger has no intention of joining either Stoke City or Queens Park Rangers.

Blind has been speaking to Manchester United's official website after his move to the club was completed, claiming that it is an "honour" to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Defoe's name just keeps popping up tonight, but reports in Canada are suggesting that Toronto FC will not allow the striker to move to QPR tonight. However, QPR owner Tony Fernandes has told Sky Sports News that negotiations could resume in January.

The Cleverley saga continues. According to Sky Sports News, Aston Villa have pulled out of a deal to sign the midfielder due to his wage demands. Could that decision open the door for Roberto Martinez to bring him to Everton?

DONE DEAL! Alex Kačaniklić has moved to FC Copenhagen on loan for the season, but signed a new contract with Fulham before completing the temporary switch.

Good news for Arsenal so often means bad news for Tottenham, and it seems like the Red side of North London will be successful tonight. Danny Welbeck is believed to be close to securing his move to the Emirates Stadium from Manchester United, with the most recent reports suggesting that it will be a permanent transfer.

Swansea were certain earlier today that Wilfried Bony was going nowhere, despite reports suggesting that Tottenham were interested. However, Canal+ are reporting that Monaco are trying to sign the Ivorian. It remains to be seen whether they can get close to completing a deal before 11pm.

One of the big moves of the day is reportedly a step closer to being completed. BBC Sport are claiming that a £16m fee has been agreed between Arsenal and Manchester United for the transfer of Danny Welbeck. That deal is expected to be confirmed very soon.

DONE DEAL! Arsenal have been attempting to get a few players out of the door today, and Ignasi Miquel is the latest to wave goodbye to North London after agreeing a move to Norwich City on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

DONE DEAL! Hull have continued their business by signing Southampton's attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez on a season-long loan deal. If they can also bring in Ben Arfa, I'm sure the club's supporters will be very happy.

Who knows? It could be the next 90 minutes which define your club's season. Welbeck looks to be on his way to Arsenal, Falcao is all set to join Man Utd, and the likes of QPR, Hull, and Everton are all trying to complete deals. Plenty of deals to be confirmed before 11pm.

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish is joining in on the fun tonight with this mysterious statement about an incoming striker. He's just told BBC Radio 5 live: "We've agreed a deal for a striker. They're at the training ground now trying to finish it. He has played in the Premier League, but he's not currently at a Premier League side."

DONE DEAL! It's been expected, but Palace have finally confirmed the arrival of James McArthur from Wigan Athletic. He's likely to be joined by a striker, according to Mr Parish.

I mentioned earlier this evening that Celtic were looking to sign John Guidetti on loan, and the Manchester City forward is now in Glasgow tying up the deal with just over an hour to go in the window.

We're still awaiting for confirmation from the two clubs, but the latest reports have suggested that Sandro's £10m move to Spurs from QPR has been completed.

DONE DEAL! Soulemayne Doukara has signed a three-year deal with Leeds United after changing season-long loan deal to a permanent move.

Oussama Assaidi, who impressed for Stoke City during a loan spell last season, is close to agreeing another temporary move to the club, according to Sky Sports News.

A quick update on QPR's business tonight. Sandro's move is reported to have been completed, while Niko Kranjcar is expected to join the Brazilian by returning to the club very soon. However, any hope of signing Jermain Defoe appears to be gone. Leicester were also linked with the England international earlier today.

Just one more hour remaining in the summer transfer window. We're waiting for confirmation on a few deals, but Sports Mole's live text coverage of deadline day will continue until 2am as we round up all of the news on a busy day for every club.

We're still awaiting confirmation, but Toby Alderweireld has reportedly agreed to sign for Southampton on a season-long loan after being given the green light to leave Atletico Madrid. Bringing in the Belgian looks like an excellent piece of business by the Saints.

Redknapp has just been explaining to BBC Radio Five Live why two potential deals did not go through today: "We tried to get one or two others and made a big effort to get Jermain Defoe. He wanted to come home but there was no way Toronto would release him before their play-offs. We also wanted Fabio Borini but his wage demands were way out of our league."

According to Sky Sports News, Everton are no longer trying to bring Tom Cleverley to the club on loan. It was reported that Manchester United wanted to see the midfielder leave on a permanent basis, but that deal now looks dead. Aston Villa and Everton have both pulled out of negotiations, so Cleverley is set to remain at Old Trafford, at least until January.

Still no updates regarding Falcao's move to Manchester United. It came as a bit of a shock this morning, but there has been no suggestions that the deal is at threat in the final hour of the window. United supporters, don't panic.

DONE DEAL! Micah Richards has moved to Fiorentina on loan for the season. Can he rediscover his form in Serie A after battling injuries for a couple of seasons?

DONE DEAL! Spurs and QPR have now confirmed that Sandro has moved to Loftus Road. QPR are reported to have paid around £10m for the Brazilian, who has seen the likes of Etienne Capoue and Nabil Bentaleb push him further down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

It's all gone quiet on the Alvaro Negredo deal, but it's expected that Manchester City will confirm the Spaniard has moved to Valencia on an initial season-long loan deal. If the move hasn't been finalised, they haven't got long left.

DONE DEAL! Roma have officially announced in the past few minutes that Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has moved to the club from Newcastle United. The deal is a season-long loan, with the option for the Serie A side to sign him permanently for £5.5m next summer.

That's right, just 30 minutes left on a frantic day for players, supporters and clubs. Are the Welbeck and Falcao deals done? Is there a shock move on the cards anywhere?

DONE DEAL! Oussama Assaidi is a Stoke player once again. Liverpool have confirmed that the Moroccan winger has moved to the Britannia Stadium on a season-long loan deal.

Nathan Redmond has attempted to have a bit of fun with Norwich supporters before turning in for the night. Not sure if the Canaries appreciated being scared for a brief moment.

We saw Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish suggesting that the club were close to signing a striker on loan. Reports in the past few minutes have suggested that it is Kevin Doyle who will be moving to Selhurst Park.

DONE DEAL! Chelsea's young goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, who is unlikely to get many chances at Stamford Bridge this season, has joined Middlesbrough on loan until January.

DONE DEAL! They're all coming in quickly now. We expected to see this one confirmed before the deadline, and it's now official. Emyr Huws has signed for Wigan Athletic after converting his loan from Manchester City to a permanent deal.

DONE DEAL! Here's another one. Fulham were believed to be looking at Jermaine Beckford, but they've just confirmed that Matt Smith has joined the club from Leeds United to link up with former striker partner Ross McCormack.

DONE DEAL! West Ham have finished the transfer window by signing Morgan Amalfitano, who spent the previous campaign with West Brom, on a three-year deal, according to Marseille.

Reports are suggesting that Arsenal have started the process to complete the signing of Danny Welbeck, but have applied for an hour extension to finish all of the paperwork. My guess is that Manchester United may be in a similar position with Radamel Falcao.

TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSES: It's officially over until January. The madness of the summer transfer window has come to an end, but we're still waiting for a few deals to be confirmed by the clubs involved. That's all from me tonight. Joe Fish is here for the next three hours as a busy deadline day comes to an end.

Thanks Callum. Don't go anywhere chaps, there are still plenty of deals that will go through in the post transfer window hours. Radamel Falcao to Manchester United, Danny Welbeck to Arsenal, Alvaro Negredo to Valencia on loan, we will have the latest on these lines when we get them.

Hull have reportedly been granted an extension in their attempts to sign Hatem Ben Arfa on loan from Newcastle, as Arsenal have for Danny Welbeck. Kind of makes the deadline irrelevant, doesn't it?

DONE DEAL! One move that was completed before the 11pm deadline, or should we say guideline, was Mark Hudson's switch across the Championship from Cardiff to Huddersfield Town. The experienced defender had been linked with Fulham, but has ended up moving North.

NEGREDO! One of the big three deals have been confirmed! Valencia have announced the signing of Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo. It is thought that the deal is an initial season-long loan, with a commitment to a £20m permanent transfer at the end of this campaign.

It is emerging now that Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has got the striker that he was desperately after. Kevin Doyle will join on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers until January, and will follow defender Zeki Fryers and midfielder James McArthur in moving to Selhurst Park today.

SERIE A SIGNINGS! A couple of completed deals to bring you from Italy, where veteran Argentine forward Javier Saviola has joined Verona. AC Milan have also wrapped up the services of Giacomo Bonaventura on a five-year deal from Serie A rivals Atalanta, for a reported £5.5m.

DONE DEAL! Harry Redknapp never fails to get his business done and he's not completed his second deadline-day signing, bringing Niko Kranjcar back to QPR on a season-long loan. It is the fourth time that Redknapp has recruited the Croatian playmaker, who has taken a 66% pay cut to join the Hoops for a second consecutive year, having helped them to promotion from the Championship.

Kevin Doyle's proposed move to Crystal Palace should pave the way for Glenn Murray to leave for Championship Reading, who have apparently beaten the deadline to get their man. It appears as though the paperwork is the only thing from preventing those two deals from being confirmed.

DONE DEAL! One player whose future has been decided is Jos Hooiveld, who has been allowed to join Championship promotion chasers Norwich City on loan for the rest of the season.

DONE DEAL! And his departure frees up space for the Southampton to bring in Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld on a season-long loan. Saints fans may have been getting nervous that this one was not going to go through, having been mooted as early as last night, but the Belgian international has signed on at St Mary's and could yet be followed by Red Bull Salzburg winger Sadio Mane.

DONE DEALS! Transfers are being confirmed all the time, even 37 minutes after the deadline. Palace have confirmed the signing of Wolves striker Kevin Doyle on loan until January, while Glenn Murray has left the Eagles as expected, to drop back into the Championship with Reading.

DONE DEAL! Loan deals are proving incredibly popular today and Coventry City are the latest club to dip into the market, bringing versatile Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines and powerful Ipswich Town striker Frank Nouble down to League One until at least January.

Hatem Ben Arfa has just been given a hero's welcome driving into the Hull City training ground and gave high fives to a bunch of excited Tigers fans who are waiting for his arrival from Newcastle to be confirmed. Hull have been granted an extension to finalise their fourth signing of the day.

Talking of extensions - and it's like a final year of university here - Burnley have tweeted to reveal that they have been given extra time to complete a late deal, but it is a bit of a mystery as to who is close to joining the Clarets. Michael Keane and Richard Dunne are names floating around.

DONE DEAL! Southampton have done some more very late business, finalising their pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg winger Sadio Mane for a reported fee of £11.8m. Ronald Koeman wanted a defender - Toby Alderweireld - and a winger on deadline day, and he has got his men right at the last minute!

Stop biting your nails Manchester United fans. Reports claiming that Radamel Falcao has failed a medical are thought to be wide of the mark. United have been given another hour to finalise the loan deal for the Monaco forward, whose switch to Old Trafford will be on an initial season-long loan.

DONE DEAL! Here is the confirmation of a loan move that we first informed you of earlier. Midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan from Championship rivals Fulham.

DOUBLE WHAMMY! Blerim Dzemaili and Goran Pandev have both left Napoli to join Galatasaray. That may provide the Italian clubs with the funds to launch January bids for Liverpool's Lucas Leiva or Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini, both of whom are targets for Rafael Benitez.

DONE DEAL! And another line from Italy, where late deals have been popular tonight. Former Juventus forward Amauri has left Parma to join Torino, where he has spent the last two years on loan.

DONE DEAL! A move that was not subject to the transfer deadline has nevertheless gone through this Monday, with former Liverpool and Fulham full-back John Arne Riise having joined Cypriot side Apoel Nicosia on a free transfer. Riise, 33, had been linked with Aston Villa.

DONE DEAL! Leicester have completed one half of a double swoop on Manchester United by acquiring Tom Lawrence on a four-year contract. The 20-year-old forward is expected to be joined at the King Power Stadium by Red Devils teammate Nick Powell on loan, but we're still waiting on that one.

While we wait for news on Falcao, Welbeck, Ben Arfa, Powell and Burnley's mystery man, here is some reaction from Southampton manager Ronald Koeman following the loan arrival of Toby Alderweireld. The Dutchman is "delighted" to have been able to bring in the former Ajax defender.

DONE DEAL! Things are slowing down slightly before the Falcao and Welbeck conducted crescendo, but one more deal confirmed is Watford academy prospect Tom Rosenthal moving to Belgian side Zulte Waregem for an undisclosed fee. The Hornets were desperate to keep the teenager, but have permitted him a return to Belgium so that he can be closer to an ill family member.

Falcao and Welbeck are waiting in the wings to steal the headlines from the subjects of some of the day's other substantial deals. Daley Blind's arrival at Old Trafford probably stands as the biggest so far, but plenty of Premier League clubs have done some significant business. Here's a reminder...

Hull broke their transfer record to sign £10m Palermo forward Abel Hernandez as a replacement for Shane Long, and have also brought in his Uruguayan compatriot Gaston Ramirez on loan from Southampton, and midfielder Mohamed Diame for £3.5m from West Ham United. Hatem Ben Arfa is on the brink of following that trio to the KC Stadium too, on what has been a great day for the Tigers.

There has also been three in and records broken at Crystal Palace, who parted with £7m to snare James McArthur from Wigan Athletic. Workhorse striker Kevin Doyle made a late loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Zeki Fryers moved across London from Spurs for £3m.

Fryers was one of six permanent or loan exits from White Hart Lane, with Sandro, who moved to QPR for a reported £6m, and Lewis Holtby, who moved back to Germany on a season-long loan with Hamburg, the other high-profile departures. Tottenham did manage to bring in holding midfielder Benjamin Stambouli from Toulouse, but lost out to North London rivals Arsenal in the battle for Welbeck.

Harry Redknapp's Spurs reunions did not stop with Sandro, as he signed Croatian Niko Kranjcar, on loan from Dynamo Kiev, for the fourth time in his managerial career. Southampton also secured two new faces, with Toby Alderweireld and Sadio Maine bolstering a depleted Saints squad.

BEN ARFA! Hull have made the most of their Premier League extension to sign Hatem Ben Afra on loan from Newcastle United. The mercurial Frenchman fell out of favour at St James' Park, but a clean slate could see him rediscover his most exciting form at the KC Stadium this season.

WELBECK! It's finally done! Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Danny Welbeck from Manchester United, on a long-term contract for a fee believed to be in the region of £15m-16m. The Gunners have their striker, and does that mean that Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford is done too?

POWELL! It's all coming together now for clubs in the Premier League, with one deal triggering another very quickly. Manchester United have been busy with Falcao and Welbeck for most of the day, but have found time at the negotiating table to sanction a season-long loan deal for Nick Powell to Leicester City. The talented midfielder follows Tom Lawrence in swapping United for the Foxes on deadline day.

Leicester's capture of Powell takes their tally of deadline-day recruits to three, with 19-year-old midfielder also Kristian Scott moving to the club's development team from Swansea City.

There are a couple of new shirts on sale at both Sunderland and Burnley too. The newly-promoted Clarets have paid £3m to purchase George Boyd from Hull and loaned highly-rated midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah from Chelsea. Gus Poyet also exploited the loan market to sign Liverpool's Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates and Inter Milan winger Ricardo Alvarez for the 2014-2015 seasons.

Other notable moves in the Premier League saw Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi return for a second spell on loan at Stoke City, while Morgan Amalfitano, who spent last season with West Bromwich Albion, comes back to England to sign a one-year contract with West Ham United.

DONE DEAL! The post-deadline business continues at Manchester United, with Michael Keane revealed to be Burnley's mystery defensive target, as we predicted earlier. The England Under-21 international centre-back has moved to Turf Moor on loan until January.

Keane is the latest name to leave the Red Devils, who provided us with one of the most high-profile Premier League exits when striker Javier Hernandez joined Real Madrid on loan this afternoon. Here are a few other familiar faces who have left England to try their luck elsewhere.

Man City have allowed Alvaro Negredo a switch back to Spain on loan with Valencia, with a £20m commitment to sign the striker at the end of the season. Micah Richards has also left the Etihad Stadium for a fresh start in mainland Europe, signing an initial loan deal with Italian outfit Fiorentina.

Midfielder Karim El Ahmadi has ended a two-year spell at Aston Villa to rejoin Feyenoord. Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has made a season-long loan switch to Roma while Chelsea have given Marco van Ginkel the chance to gain valuable game time at Serie A giants AC Milan.

FALCAO! The story of the day, the deal of the day, the deal of the window is finally done and dusted! Two-and-a-half hours after the deadline, Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao on a one-year loan from Monaco, with an option to buy.

It came of of the blue this morning before becoming a slower burner throughout deadline day, but United have eventually got their hands on one of the most potent goalscorers in world football. Falcao, 28, joins Louis van Gaal's envious attacking lineup of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Angel di Maria, Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj at Old Trafford. Ander Herrera to play in central defence?

A chuffed Van Gaal tells United's official website: I am delighted Radamel has joined us on loan this season. When a player of this calibre becomes available, it is an opportunity not to be missed."

So, United leave it until the last possible second to get Falcao through the door. But what about the deals that fell through? QPR and Aston Villa are among the teams to have missed out on targets...

Rangers could not agree personal terms with Fabio Borini, having had a £10m bid accepted for the Liverpool striker, and failed to persuade Toronto FC to part with a willing Jermain Defoe, who was tipped for a fourth spell under Harry Redknapp's management after touching down in the UK.

Aston Villa were snubbed by both Real Sociedad winger Sergio Canales and United's Tom Cleverley, who rejected Paul Lambert's side in favour of a move to Everton. However, the Toffees could not agree terms with the midfielder either, so he faces a long few months as a Red Devils reserve.

Some reaction from Redknapp on the signing of Sandro, whom he is tipping to be a fan's favourite at QPR. The Brazilian midfielder's tough tackling nature made him a Spurs cult hero.

Perhaps appropriately on this transfer deadline day, the last words should be on Falcao, and his new manager Louis van Gaal is continuing to lavish the 'world-class' striker with praise.

That's it from SM on what was a late bloomer of a transfer day which brought about a couple of sensational last-minute deals involving Manchester United. Let's do it all again in January? Until then...
