Riise snapped up by Apoel Nicosia

John Arne Riise has joined Cypriot side Apoel Nicosia on a free transfer.

The Norwegian has been seeking a new club since parting company with Fulham at the end of last season.

The move enables Riise to feature in the Champions League, with his new club due to face Barcelona, Paris Saintt-Germain and Ajax in the group phase of the competition.

Riise, who made 234 appearances for Liverpool between 2001 and 2008, joined Fulham from Italian outfit Roma in 2011.
