Premier League predictions gameweek 16: Alex Spencer vs. Sports Mole

The relentless December Premier League schedule keeps on coming this weekend as, fresh from a round of midweek fixtures, the teams get ready to do it all again over the weekend.

Liverpool get gameweek 16 underway at Crystal Palace in a match which could see them move top of the table - although that could only be for a few hours until current leaders Arsenal visit third-placed Aston Villa, who will be looking to back up their famous win over Manchester City with a 15th straight home victory.

Manchester United also feature on a stacked Saturday, before Chelsea and Man City both face away trips on a Sunday which also sees a London derby between Fulham and West Ham United.

Gameweek 16 then comes to a close in fitting fashion as Tottenham Hotspur look to halt their slide at home to Newcastle United.

Each gameweek, Sports Mole is taking on a famous musician or band in a prediction competition, and this week it is the turn of singer-songwriter and Manchester City fan Alex Spencer.

Alex Spencer Q&A

How did you come to support Man City and what are your favourite memories from your time as a fan?

My dad has been a massive Manchester City fan since the 1980s so I guess I was automatically born as a Man City fan. My first memory with Manchester City was going to my first game at the Etihad against Wolves in 2011 - I was four years old and we won!

My favourite City memory was probably the comeback against Aston Villa when we won 3-2 and we won the Premier League, or when me and my brother performed two Manchester classics for the City players when we won the league in 2022 - it was one of the greatest days of my life. Who have been your favourite five players for your club? (Historically or currently)

Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Jack Grealish, Rodri and Ruben Dias.

What's going on for you as an artist at the moment?

I signed a record deal with Modern Sky in the new year and since then I've been writing, gigging and releasing music.

I've just released my debut EP which has gone amazing, I supported Jamie Webster at the 02 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester and I played my first ever sold-out Manchester headliner at the Deaf Institute. I have a lot more planned for 2024!
