Charlie McGough Q&A

How did you come to support Leeds and what are your favourite memories from your time as a fan?

My introduction to Leeds was the stereotypical 'my Dad's a Leeds fan and therefore it was cast upon me'. My first game was a midweek Europa League tie that we won 3-1 and I slept through joyfully.

My fandom started around the time of the great decline so it's been a predominantly miserable pursuit however, the Beckford goals against Manchester United and Bristol are the first moments that seemed to signal some sort of turn around and stick in the mind.

The first three Bielsa seasons are the most joyous and special of seasons any Leeds fan could have ever wished for really. What he did for the club and for the fans now feels rather dream-like. That Hernandez goal against Swansea to all but seal promotion, what could be better? Who have been your favourite five players for your club? (Historically or currently)

Pablo Hernandez and Raphinha speak for themselves. Luke Ayling, in particular, was at the centre of so many of the most important Bielsa moments and seems like one of the more underrated players of that team even if he is looking calamitous at the moment. Viduka is an obvious early hero as was Gary Kelly... as somebody who became an industrious full-back he's got a lot to answer for.

What's going on with the band at the moment?

We've just announced our third record, Beholder. The first single Brakelights is currently out there for all to hear and the rest of the record comes in March. We're incredibly excited for the tour that follows which, for us, is now taking the focus.

Check out 'Brakelights', the latest release from The Blinders, available on all digital streaming platforms now.
