Ivory Coast vs. Guinea - prediction, team news, lineups

Ivory Coast and Guinea go head-to-head at the Stade Credit Agricole la Licorne in an international friendly match on Tuesday evening.

Off the back of contrasting results in their respective most recent encounters, the teams come into this one in different moods, but a cracking contest is expected nonetheless.

Match preview

Ivory Coast got the better of the Sparrowhawks of Togo courtesy of a narrow 2-1 victory at the Stade Robert-Diochon on Saturday.

Quickfire goals from Seko Fofana and Franck Kessie put Jean-Louis Gasset's men in the driving seat before Karim Dermane pulled one back late on.

Les Elephants are now unbeaten in their last six matches, winning four of them and playing out two stalemates against Lesotho and then Burkina Faso.

Coming up next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have only come out on top in one of the previous nine meetings between the teams.

In what is possibly their final outing of 2022, Ivory Coast will be keen to put on a show before they resume their AFCON qualifying campaign next year.

Guinea were narrowly beaten by the Fennec Foxes of Algeria 2-1 in Friday's encounter involving the sides at the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex.

Kaba Diawara's men found themselves under the cosh for the majority of the contest but looked set to come away with a share of the spoil before Islam Slimani broke the deadlock in the 79th minute.

As a result, Syli National have now emerged triumphant in just one of their last nine matches across all competitions, which came against Malawi.

Off the back of three straight defeats on the road leading up to Tuesday's clash, the visitors will be keen to turn their away fortunes around.

Team News

Max Gradel is now up to 99 caps, and his next international outing would see him join an exclusive list of players to have racked up a century of appearances for Ivory Coast.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nicolas Pepe was an unused substitute against Togo last time out, but he is largely expected to feature in this one.

Liverpool's Naby Keita was called up to Guinea's squad for the current international break, but they have since confirmed that he will not be taking part in any of the matches.

This should see Amadou Diawara and Ilaix Moriba retain their places in the centre of the park, with Mory Konate completing the three-man midfield.

Ivory Coast possible starting lineup:

Sangare; Deli, Kossounou, Singo; Konan, Kessie, Fofana, Gbamin, Pepe; Zaha, Cornet

Guinea possible starting lineup:

Kone; Sylla, Diakhaby, Camara, Conte; Diawara, Moriba, Konate; Bayo, Guirassy, Guilavogui

We say: Ivory Coast 2-0 Guinea

Judging by their record in this fixture, Ivory Coast are huge favourites to get the job done as they also boast the vastly superior crop of players. We are tipping them to carry the day at the end of the 90 minutes here.
