Preview: Hibernian vs. St Mirren - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Hibernian and St Mirren, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Hibernian will attempt to get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership when they take on St Mirren at Easter Road on Saturday.

The home side arrive following a defeat to St Johnstone last weekend, while the visitors travel to Edinburgh fresh from a victory over Dundee United last week.

Hibernian have made a positive beginning to life in 2022-23 under manager Lee Johnson, currently sitting in fifth position in the Scottish Premiership table with 12 matches played.

Nevertheless, they are on a run of three straight defeats in the league, which will need to change if the Hibees are serious about qualifying for continental football this season.

Last time out, they were on the end of a 2-1 loss at home to St Johnstone as goals from Nicky Clark and Stevie May wiped out a Kyle Magennis opener to hand Hibernian their first home defeat of the campaign.

Hibernian could leapfrog St Mirren with a victory and move into fourth, while they could also jump above Aberdeen to third depending on other results.

Johnson will be hoping their impressive home form can return on Saturday in order to catapult his side up the league table.

St Mirren have been excellent in the Scottish Premiership this season and occupy fourth in the Premiership standings as they travel to Easter Road.

Stephen Robinson has received widespread acclaim for how the Buddies have been performing and has been touted as a potential candidate for the Northern Ireland managerial vacancy in recent times due to his success.

However, St Mirren have won just one league match from four attempts on the road this season and will be keen to amend this record to keep themselves in the European slots.

Last weekend, an own goal from Carljohan Eriksson and a strike from Alex Greive gave St Mirren a 2-1 win over Dundee United despite a Steven Fletcher reply.

Robinson will seek to take another step in the right direction this weekend against Hibernian, which could move St Mirren as high as third in the table.

For the visitors, Toyosi Olusanya is still out of contention for the match at Easter Road owing to an injury concern.

Keanu Baccus and Jonah Ayunga are at risk of picking up a suspension if they receive a yellow card during the tie.

Hibernian possible starting lineup:
Marshall; Bushiri, Porteous, Hanlon; Cadden, Kenneh, Campbell, Newell, Cabraja; Boyle, Kukharevych

We say: Hibernian 1-1 St Mirren

In a game between two evenly-matched opponents, we expect a tight affair with opportunities for both sides to seal a victory.

However, there will be no separating the sides on the day and a draw will be the final outcome between Hibernian and St Mirren.
