Preview: Brisbane Roar vs. Western United - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Australian A-League clash between Brisbane Roar and Western United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

With just two points keeping them off the foot of the A-League table, there will be no shortage of pressure on Brisbane Roar this weekend when they welcome Western United.

The visitors could potentially break into the top six with a victory this time around, though, creating plenty to play for on each side.

Match preview

Brisbane Roar's difficult season continued last weekend when they faced the current league leaders Melbourne City, despite the fact they almost pulled off a shock result.

The Lions managed to draw level in the 80th minute of the game through a Jay O'Shea penalty, but they were unable to withstand the pressure as an 88th-minute goal saw the match finish 2-1.

With one point slipping out of their hands right at the end, Brisbane Roar missed the opportunity to put more distance between themselves and Melbourne Victory, who are currently the bottom-placed team in the division.

With that in mind, there is plenty of pressure on Nick Green's team as he continues to look for the answers that will turn their fortunes around.

The biggest problem for Brisbane Roar has simply been finding the back of the net as no team has scored fewer goals than them, which has been a crux for them.

The visitors have struggled for consistency themselves throughout this season, but they still have the chance to push and finish with a strong position if they can end the campaign strong.

That is what Western United have been doing as of late, winning three games consecutively heading into this weekend which is a run they should be confident of extending.

Noah Botic and Aleksandar Prijovic were on hand to fire the Western Service Crew to a 2-1 against Melbourne Victory last season, and their recent performances have allowed them to climb the table.

However, there was nothing to split the two teams when they met earlier this season as they battled out to a 1-1 draw, which is a result that would not benefit either right now.

With Western United's recent rise in form, though, they will certainly have the belief that they can churn out another three points.

Team News

Brisbane Roar will be sure to feature O'Shea once again due to the performances he has been displaying since overcoming a toe injury, as his attacking qualities have proved to be crucial as of late.

The Lions will also likely continue to set up with a 4-4-2 formation which is how the visitors tend to work, allowing both to be well-matched to create individual battles across the pitch.

James Troisi missed out last week for Western United due to a hamstring problem, and that is going to keep him on the sidelines once again.

However, after securing another victory the Western Service Crew may end up having the exact same starting lineup this time around.

Brisbane Roar possible starting lineup:
Holmes; Zabala, Trewin, Aldred, Neville; Hore, Gomulka, O'Shea, Lofthouse; Mileusnic, Armiento

Western United possible starting lineup:
Young; Risdon, Lacroix, Imai, Garuccio; Doumbia, Kilkenny, Wales, Pain; Botic, Prijovic

We say: Brisbane Roar 0-2 Western United

Brisbane Roar have plenty to play for here as they look to avoid finishing bottom this season, but with Western United's recent form the visitors should be able to secure all three points.
