Preview: Lincoln City vs. Accrington Stanley - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Lincoln City and Accrington Stanley, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Lincoln City will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night when they welcome Accrington Stanley to Sincil Bank.

The visitors sit just two points outside of the relegation zone in the League One table, putting pressure on the upcoming match.

Lincoln City head into Tuesday's game in 14th place following five victories, six draws, and four defeats throughout the opening stages of this season.

The Imps were beaten at the weekend against Port Vale when a 68th-minute goal from Daniel Butterworth proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Scoring has been an issue for Lincoln as of late, failing to find the back of the net more than once in their previous six league encounters.

The Imps are undefeated at home so far this season, which should bring some confidence to the squad that they can continue that run.

However, out of their six matches at Sincil Bank, only one of them has resulted in a victory as Lincoln have struggled at turning their draws into three points.

The visitors have also been finding it difficult to pick up victories as of late, as they head into this match on the back of five consecutive defeats in the league.

The most recent of those losses came at the weekend against Fleetwood Town when Accrington Stanley were beaten 3-0, with a trio of goals taking place over a 10-minute period.

Accrington's recent poor results has led to them slipping down the table as John Coleman's men are currently 20th in the League One table.

There is just two points separating the 'Owd Reds and MK Dons, meaning another defeat in midweek could lead to them falling into the bottom four.

Only three teams in the division have conceded more goals than Accrington Stanley so far, with that being a clear issue for the team heading into this match.

Team News

Adam Jackson returned to the back three for Lincoln City at the weekend, and even though they failed to keep a clean sheet he will likely retain his place in the team.

The Imps could be forced into a change to their starting XI in midweek though as Daniel Mandroiu had to be replaced in the first half against Port Vale due to injury.

Liam Coyle and Doug Tharme both missed out for Accrington Stanley at the weekend due to suspension, which opened the door for Baba Fernandes and Seamus Conneely to get some minutes, and they will be sure to provide competition again this time out.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field Tommy Leigh is expected to retain his place in the team as he leads the line on his own.

Lincoln City possible starting lineup:
Rushworth; Jackson, Poole, O'Connor; Roughan, Sanders, Virtue, Eyoma; Diamond, Garrick, House

Accrington Stanley possible starting lineup:
Savin; Clark, Fernandes, Astley, Rodgers; Whalley, Conneely, Pritchard, Hamilton, McConville; Leigh

We say: Lincoln City 1-0 Accrington Stanley

Lincoln City have been struggling for goals in recent times, but coming up against a team in poor defensive form could be the ideal situation to turn that around.

With Accrington Stanley in the midst of a difficult run of form recently, this could be another difficult fixture for them.
