Aberdeen vs. Motherwell - prediction, team news, lineups

Aberdeen will be looking to make it four wins in five matches when they face off against Motherwell at the Pittodrie Stadium on Wednesday evening.

On the other hand, the away side will be seeking to end a barren run of form which has seen them fail to win any of their last 15 matches across all competitions.

Match preview

Aberdeen bounced back from their League Cup final defeat to Rangers by claiming a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Livingston on Wednesday.

Barry Robson's men trailed to Kurtis Guthrie's opener just before the half-hour mark before a Bojan Miovski double turned the game around.

Consequently, the Dandies have moved up to eighth place in the Scottish Premiership table, five points outside the Championship playoff places with two games in hand.

Awaiting them next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are on a three-match winning streak in this fixture after failing to win any of the previous five meetings prior to that.

Having come out on top in three straight home matches leading up to Wednesday's clash, the hosts will back themselves to emerge victorious in front of their fans once again.

Motherwell were on the receiving end of a largely disappointing 2-0 loss against Rangers in Sunday's meeting between the teams at Fir Park.

Stuart Kettlewell's men fell two goals down inside the opening 15 minutes to strikes from Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell, which condemned them to defeat.

With 16 points amassed from 19 matches so far, the Steelmen sit bottom but one in the league standings heading into the final third of the campaign.

Currently with the second-fewest goals scored on the road this term, Wednesday's visitors will need to up the ante at the top end of the pitch to stand any chance of a positive result here.

Team News

Jack MacKenzie has not featured for Aberdeen since the second week of November due to a muscle problem and remains a doubt for Tuesday's clash.

Bojan Miovski has found the back of the net three times in his last three matches for the home side, making him one to keep an eye on here.

Motherwell's Pape Souare is currently available with an ankle injury, while Lennon Miller and Dan Casey miss out through knee and thigh injuries respectively.

The away side will also be without the services of 32-year-old midfielder Calum Butcher who is, however, closing in on a return to action.

Aberdeen possible starting lineup:

Roos; Gartenmann, MacDonald, Jensen; Devlin, Clarkson, Shinnie, McGarry; Polvara, Miovski, Duk

Motherwell possible starting lineup:

Kelly; O'Donnell, Mugabi, Blaney; Spencer, Slattery, Zdravkovski, Paton, Gent; Spittal, Biereth

We say: Aberdeen 2-1 Motherwell

Motherwell have been lethargic in front of goal recently, but we can see them finding the back of the net here. We are also backing Aberdeen to come away with maximum points come the end of the 90 minutes.
