Ryan Giggs disappointed at Team GB's exit from Olympics

Ryan Giggs admits that he is dejected at Team GB's exit from the London Olympics on Saturday.

Ryan Giggs has admitted his disappointment at Team GB's exit from the London Olympics on Saturday.

Team GB's hopes of an Olympic gold in front of home crowd ended at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff where they lost 5-4 to South Korea on penalties in the quarter-finals following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

Giggs was understandably dejected not to have progressed further in the competition, but was delighted to have played alongside a number of young and talented British footballers.

"Of course, it's disappointing," he said. "Ultimately we just weren't quite good enough.

"They were well organised, and made it hard for us to play our football. Overall though, it's been a fantastic experience, one the players and the staff have enjoyed.

"It was a pleasure to play with so many talented young players. Some I knew, some I didn't, but there's a lot of talent in that dressing room."

Giggs further wished his young Team GB teammates good luck for the club season ahead.

"Hopefully they can take it back to their clubs now and have good seasons," the 38-year-old added. "They deserve it, because their attitudes have been brilliant.

"It's been a pleasure to play with them, to be around them, and to train with them."

Giggs will now join the Manchester United squad to begin training for the upcoming 2012-13 Premier League season.
