Third-placed PSV Eindhoven host bottom-placed Willem II in an Eredivisie fixture at the Philips Stadion on Saturday.
The champions trail unbeaten leaders Feyenoord by four points after a 1-1 draw on Sunday, while Willem II, still without a league win after 10 matches, will have their third head coach in four games.
Match preview
The reigning champions sit third in the Eredivisie table with 20 points from 10 matches, ahead of AZ Alkmaar and FC Twente on goal difference, and their record of six wins, two draws and two defeats includes 28 goals scored and 13 conceded.
Peter Bosz's side lost 2-1 at newly promoted ADO Den Haag on October 17, with Sven Mijnans scoring the opener, being sent off for a second yellow card before half time and Matej Sin scoring the winner in the 93rd minute.
Three days later the Boeren won 1-0 at FC Porto through Guus Til's 57th-minute goal, their first victory of the Champions League league phase after a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk and a 1-0 defeat at RB Leipzig.
Til volleyed PSV ahead against Feyenoord in the 21st minute after Lutsharel Geertruida kept a cleared cross alive, but Anis Hadj Moussa curled in an equaliser in the 54th minute.
Geertruida had a 73rd-minute goal ruled out for offside against Ivan Perisic in the build-up, and Armando Obispo headed against the outside of the post before half time, which backed up Bosz's claim that PSV deserved to win.
Til has six league goals and Mijnans five, but the Eindhovens Dagblad called the forward line the main concern, with Perisic and Ruben van Bommel both expected to contribute more.
PSV were also held 1-1 by Willem II at home on February 8, 2025, when Noa Lang's 62nd-minute strike was cancelled out by Mickael Tirpan in the 83rd minute.
Willem II are 18th on two points from 10 matches, with no wins, two draws and eight defeats, and their goal difference of -22 comes from 10 goals scored and 32 conceded.
The 6-1 home defeat by fellow promoted side Cambuur on October 24 was the Friesland club's biggest away win in Eredivisie history, with Nicolas Binder scoring twice and the visitors 3-0 ahead after 18 minutes.
That result followed a 3-2 defeat at Sparta Rotterdam on October 17, in which Tonny Vilhena and Uriel van Aalst scored, and a 3-1 loss at FC Utrecht on October 11.
Willem II dismissed John Stegeman on Tuesday, October 20, after technical director Freek Heerkens decided he saw too little prospect of improvement, and assistant Pascal Diender left with him.
Adrie Koster, a 71-year-old technical adviser at the club, then took charge for eight days, and his side were whistled off at half time against Cambuur while trailing 3-0.
Koster did oversee the Tricolores' first win of the season, a 4-3 cup victory at second-tier Helmond Sport on Tuesday, October 27, in which Devin Haen scored an overhead kick and substitute Jaden Slory was sent off with the score at 4-2.
Jurgen Streppel, 57, was appointed on Wednesday, October 28 until the end of the season, returning to a club he coached from 2011 to 2016 and led into the Eredivisie twice, after being dismissed by Cypriot second-tier club Akritas Chlorakas, with survival as the stated aim.
Willem II's last league win over PSV came in Tilburg on September 25, 2021 (2-1), and they have taken one point from the three meetings since.

Team News
Jerdy Schouten, who suffered a serious knee injury against FC Utrecht on April 4 and faces a recovery of around nine months, and Alassane Plea, who is out for the rest of the calendar year, remain long-term absentees for PSV.
Paul Wanner and Adamo Nagalo are also unavailable, striker Sam Lammers trained with Jong PSV last week but was not ready for the Feyenoord squad, and Sami Ouaissa, a €9m (£7.6m) signing from NEC who played a half for Jong PSV last week, missed a reserve fixture through fitness and needs a new medical examination.
Ricardo Pepi is back in training but was not fit enough for the Feyenoord game and is a doubt for Saturday, while Kiliann Sildillia, absent from late August until the Porto trip, is also unconfirmed.
Mijnans is available again after serving a one-match ban against Feyenoord, which gives Bosz a second central option alongside Til, who left the ADO game in the 39th minute after landing on the back of his head but scored in Porto.
Van Bommel, who missed much of last season with a cruciate ligament injury, returned to start against Feyenoord after being left out of the squad for the ADO and Porto games.
Willem II were without Amine Lachkar, who has a groin injury and has not played since July, and Justin Hoogma, who has a knee problem, for the Cambuur game.
Slory, who is on loan from Feyenoord, is set to miss the game in Eindhoven after his red card for a heavy challenge at Helmond.
Vilhena scored at Sparta and again at Helmond, and Haen's overhead kick was the highlight of the cup win.
PSV Eindhoven possible starting lineup:
Kovar; Dest, Obispo, Geertruida, Kostic; Mauro Junior, Sano; Perisic, Til, Van Bommel; Mijnans
Willem II possible starting lineup:
Didillon-Hodl; Ter Avest, Stam, Dekker, Tjoe-A-On; Twigt, Vilhena; Zarrouk, Van Aalst, Van Crooij; Haen
We say: PSV Eindhoven 3-0 Willem II
PSV score 2.8 league goals per match and Willem II concede 3.2, and with Willem II having shipped 12 goals in their last three league games, a win by three clear goals is the most likely outcome.
Streppel was appointed on Wednesday night, which leaves him less than three days to prepare, so the defensive disorganisation seen against Cambuur, where the visitors were 3-0 up inside 18 minutes, is unlikely to be fixed by Saturday.
PSV face Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday, November 4, so Bosz may rotate, but Esmir Bajraktarevic, Mikkel Bro Hansen and Dennis Man all featured against Feyenoord and give him depth against a side yet to win a league game.
