Bayern Munich could move one step closer to the Bundesliga title on Saturday, when they travel to take on European hopefuls Freiburg at Europa-Park Stadion.
Die Breisgau-Brasilianer are looking for a third win on the bounce this weekend, while the Bavarians will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches.
Match preview
Julian Schuster's Freiburg - who finished fifth in the top flight 2024-25 - find themselves some distance from the top six with just seven games to play, and unless they can pick up form immediately, they risk missing out on UEFA competition next term.
It would be fair to say that Die Breisgau-Brasilianer stumbled in the aftermath of their 3-0 loss against Hoffenheim on Valentine's Day, going on to win only one of their following five outings across all competitions - a 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on February 22.
That dire stretch also featured three defeats during which Schuster's side failed to score even once, being downed 2-0 by Eintracht Frankfurt, 1-0 by Genk in the Europa League and 1-0 by Union Berlin on their return to domestic action on March 15.
However, prior to the international break, Freiburg managed to record back-to-back triumphs, recovering their continental deficit by thrashing Genk 5-1 in the return leg before taking all three points in a vital 2-1 league win against St Pauli most recently.
Overcoming Kiezkicker has Die Breisgau-Brasilianer eighth in the Bundesliga table with 37 points, nine shy of sixth-placed Bayer Leverkusen, but if Schuster's men have truly turned a corner in recent weeks, then they could be in with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe.
With that goal in mind, the hosts will take heart from their commendable record at Europa-Park Stadion, where they have lost just twice across all competitions in 2025-26, knowing that another victory against stern opposition on Saturday would give the club a major boost.
Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany's Bayern have a commanding lead at the top of the table and are closing in on yet another Bundesliga crown.
The Bavarians signed off before the international break with a 4-0 demolition of Union Berlin on March 21, courtesy of goals from Michael Olise and Harry Kane, as well as a brace from Serge Gnabry, who was filling in for the suspended Luis Diaz.
That victory maintained Kompany's side's nine-point lead over Der Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund in second, and barring a major slip-up, the title seems destined for the Allianz Arena once again.
Thrashing Die Eisernen also marked the fourth time in their last five games that Bayern have scored at least four goals, only failing to reach the tally in their 1-1 draw against Leverkusen on March 14, a stalemate that was preceded by a seven-game winning streak and followed by consecutive victories.
The Bavarians will be tough to stop for any opposition, and while it is difficult to point to an area of weakness in their momentum, the fact that the visitors have drawn two of their four away league games prior to Saturday's showdown could give some Freiburg fans a glimmer of hope.

Team News
Freiburg will be without centre-back Max Rosenfelder this weekend as he recovers from a hamstring injury, and this game comes too soon for attacking midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, who is closing in on a return to action following his lengthy layoff with a series of knee injuries.
In their absence, Matthias Ginter and Bruno Ogbus look set to start at the heart of Schuster's defence, while Maximilian Eggestein and Johan Manzambi platform Yuito Suzuki in the centre of the park.
As for Bayern, they are missing Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson due to the red card he picked up against Leverkusen, though Harry Kane should be on hand to start up front, supported by a trio of Michael Olise, Lennart Karl and Luis Diaz, with Jamal Musiala a doubt due to an ankle issue.
At the opposite end of the pitch, left-back Alphonso Davies is unlikely to feature having only returned to partial training at the end of March, backup goalkeeper Sven Ulrich is dealing with a groin injury, and 17-year-old centre-half Cassiano Kiala is out for the season with a knee injury.
Looking to sustain his side's push for the title, Kompany could opt for the versatile Konrad Laimer on the left of a back four, alongside Jonathan Tah, Dayot Upamecano and Josip Stanisic.
Elsewhere, teenage winger Wisdom Mike is out for the rest of the campaign with a hip problem, while midfielder David Santos Daiber - another youngster - remains sidelined with a thigh injury, but Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will be ready start in a double pivot on Saturday.
Freiburg possible starting lineup:
Atubolu; Treu, Ginter, Ogbus, Makengo; Eggestein, Manzambi; Beste, Suzuki, Grifo; Matanovic
Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:
Neuer; Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Karl, Diaz; Gnabry
We say: Freiburg 1-3 Bayern Munich
Freiburg may have turned a corner before the international break, but their burgeoning resurgence could be cut short by a rampant Bayern on Saturday.
The Bavarians are almost impossible to stop going forward, and unless Freiburg can stifle their opponents, then they look set for a return to losing ways this weekend.
