Bromley vs. Morecambe - prediction, team news, lineups

League Two's basement side Morecambe will be bidding to give their slight survival hopes a major boost when they make the trip to Bromley on Friday afternoon.

Morecambe are rock bottom of the League Two table, seven points behind 22nd-placed Accrington Stanley, while Bromley are 14th, 10 points off the playoff positions in the fourth tier of English football.

Match preview

Bromley secured promotion to League Two through last season's National League playoffs, with the team playing in the Football League for the first time in their history, and it has been an impressive campaign.

Indeed, the Ravens have a record of 14 wins, 14 draws and 14 defeats from their 42 matches this season, with a total of 56 points leaving them in 14th, some 19 points clear of the relegation zone.

Andy Woodman's side have therefore already secured another campaign in the Football League, while they can actually mathematically still make the playoffs, sitting 10 points behind seventh-placed Grimsby Town.

Bromley will enter this match off the back of a 5-0 defeat to Port Vale, but they did beat Accrington 4-0 in their last match in front of their own supporters at the start of the month, and the London club will now be hosting the team at the bottom of the division.

Morecambe can still survive, but it is going to take some effort for them to escape the relegation zone at this stage of proceedings, with 36 points from 42 matches leaving them at the bottom of the division.

Derek Adams's side are seven points behind 22nd-placed Accrington with four games left, showing the size of their task, and a win in this match is an absolute necessity if they are to have a chance of survival.

The Shrimps actually recorded back-to-back wins over Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town at the end of March and start of April, but they have since lost to Grimsby Town and Carlisle United in their last two.

Morecambe have the third-worst away record in League Two this season, only picking up 14 points from 21 matches, but Bromley have been underwhelming at home, only claiming 28 points from 21 games.

The two teams met for the first time in their respective histories earlier this season, and it finished 2-0 to Bromley, so the hosts will be looking to complete a League Two double on Friday afternoon.

Team News

Three of the goals that Bromley conceded to Port Vale actually came after a double change, and the team that started in Staffordshire did show some positive signs, so it would not be a shock to see an unchanged XI for this match.

Michael Cheek has been in excellent form during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 22 times in all competitions, making him comfortably Bromley's leading goalscorer, and he will continue in the final third.

There should also be starts for midfield pair Cameron Congreve and Ben Thompson, who have six goals each this term.

As for Morecambe, Lee Angol has eight goals in 24 appearances this season, and the visitors will again be looking to the 30-year-old for inspiration on Friday afternoon.

Hallam Hope has contributed four goals during the 2024-25 campaign, meanwhile, and he will again feature in the final third, while Andy Dallas, who has three goals in 14 appearances, is also set to start.

Morecambe have not reported any fresh injury concerns, but there is expected to be a change on Tuesday, with eight-goal Ben Tollitt set for a recall after starting on the bench against Carlisle United.

Bromley possible starting lineup: Smith; Grant, Webster, Sowunmi, Mayor; Arthurs, Charles; Imray, Thompson, Congreve; Cheek

Morecambe possible starting lineup: Burgoyne; Tutonda, Stott, Williams, Lewis; Songo'o, White, Tollitt; Hope, Angol, Dallas

We say: Bromley 1-0 Morecambe

It was 2-0 to Bromley in the reverse match earlier this season, and we are predicting another victory for Woodman's side here; Morecambe are seemingly heading out of the Football League, and we are finding it difficult to back them to avoid defeat.
