Newell's OB vs. Independiente Rivadavia - prediction, team news, lineups

Round seven of the 2024 Argentine Primera Division campaign sees Newell's Old Boys and Independiente Rivadavia lock horns at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa on Tuesday.

Off the back of respective victories last time out, the teams will be full of confidence ahead of what should be an absorbing affair here.

Match preview

Newell's Old Boys left it late in their 1-0 triumph over Barracas Central at Claudio Fabian Tapia on Friday evening.

With the game level heading into second-half stoppage time, Ignacio Ramirez broke the deadlock in the 92nd minute to secure the win for Sebastian Mendez's men.

As a result, La Lepra have moved up to 12th spot in the Argentine Primera Division table and are now just four points shy of a place in the top four.

Lying in store next is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit who are taking part in their first top-flight season for over four decades.

Having suffered a 2-0 defeat to Instituto in their most recent home involvement, Tuesday's hosts set out to avoid consecutive losses in front of their fans for the first time since February.

Independiente Rivadavia snapped a run of three straight defeats by beating Gimnasia La Plata 1-0 at Estadio Juan Bautista Gargantini on Thursday.

Martin Cicotello's men got their noses in front after 37 minutes thanks to Lautaro Rios, whose strike proved to be the decisive moment in Mendoza.

Currently boasting a tally of 10 points from six league matches so far, El Azul sit ninth in the standings, one point ahead of their next opponents.

Following a first away defeat of the campaign in their last outing on the road, Tuesday's visitors will be keen to give their travelling supporters reason to cheer this time around.
