Transfer Talk - January 12 - as it happened

Welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog on Monday, January 12.

Football clubs home and abroad have 21 days left to complete their business and get their squads in order for the second half of the season.

While we are yet to see many big-name stars finalise a move, speculation continues to do the rounds.

Rest assured, we will keep you updated with all of the latest news as it emerges throughout the day.

2.03amAnyways, that's all for now, my friends, but our live transfer blog is back in action at 7 am so check back in at some point tomorrow for future gossip from the rumour mill. Until then....

2.02amJust one more story of the night now and reported Arsenal and Man United target William Carvalho admits that moving to the Premier League would represent a dream come true. More on this inside.

1.47amRoberto Martinez has sang the praises of this "phenomenal" Everton midfielder and says that he will not be leaving Goodison Park this month. Click here to see who the Spaniard is referring to.

1.15amBit more Arsenal-related stuff here as legendary Polish keeper Jan Tomaszewski says that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ought to let out-of-favour Wojciech Szczesny leave the club if he does not intend on ending his exile for smoking.

12.31amBit of Arsenal news now and Hamburg coach Josef Zinnbauer fancies his chances of beating Arsene Wenger in the race to sign highly-rated Legia Warsaw starlet Krystian Bielik. More on this one here.

11.51pmGood evening ladies and gentlemen. I'll kick off my stint with the news that Peter Crouch has reiterated his intention to earn a contract extension at Stoke and stay with the club for the "foreseeable future". Crouchey is behind only The Hound, The Mountain and Per Mertesacker in a list of my favourite tall people, so let's hope he gets his wishes.

11.00pmThat's all from me today. I'll leave you with my colleague Shane, who will be guiding you through the latest transfer news over the next few hours.

10.28pmLet's stay in Italy, where it is believed that Antonio Cassano is wanted by Genoa. A report today says that the Parma striker is in talks with the club after months of speculation.

10.11pmNow, this would be an interesting transfer! It has been reported that Ravel Morrison is in talks with Serie A outfit Lazio over a move to Italy. He is currently embroiled in a contract dispute with West Ham and is out of contract in the summer.

8.57pmHere's some good news for fans of Leicester. Andrej Kramaric could be available to play for the Foxes in this weekend's match against Stoke after having his work permit application backed by the Football Association.

8.17pmThanks Pascal! I'll begin with the news that Liverpool have sold winger Oussama Assaidi to Al Ahli Club. The Moroccan made just 12 appearances for the Reds and had been on loan at Stoke City, but that deal was cut short in order for him to move to Dubai.

7.01pmAnd with that, my stint on the blog comes to a close. I'm handing over to Alex Meyers, who will see you through until 11pm. Alex...

5.51pmWest Bromwich Albion midfielder Liam O'Neil has extended his loan at Scunthorpe United until the end of the season. Full story this way.

5.32pmHere's a video from FIFA TV's YouTube channel where Ballon d'Or nominees Neuer, Messi and Ronaldo say a few words. Start it at around 10 minutes. Remember, Messi admitted that he didn't know what the future holds. The tease!

4.56pmSticking with the Championship - Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has insisted that 21-year-old full-back Tyrone Mings won't be going anywhere in January. Arsenal, Chelsea and Stoke City are all said to have expressed an interest in the left-back, but McCarthy is confident they won't be able to afford him. You sure, Mick?

4.21pmDONE DEALS! A pair of completed transfers in the Championship as Shaun Cummings swaps Reading for Millwall, while Danny Ward leaves Huddersfield Town for Rotherham United.

4.02pmCheers Matty. Enough of your Cristiano and Leo in Red nonsense. I'll be with you until 7pm and first there's news of a possible loan move for Arsenal's young striker Yaya Sanogo. The Frenchman was a goal machine for me on Football Manager 2011, but it hasn't worked out since his move to England in real life. Find out who might take a punt on him here.

3.58pmThat is just about it from me this afternoon, but be sure to remain with us as I pass the baton onto Pascal Lemesre. Over to you, Pascers...

3.47pmSo, Messi and Ronaldo at Manchester United it is then? One can dream. Imagine those two in the same side. Carnage.

3.35pmArsenal forward Yaya Sanogo is reportedly on the verge of joining Crystal Palace on loan. However, Palace are said to be on the verge of announcing the Frenchman's capture.

3.32pmManchester United have reportedly been made aware that German international Thomas Muller could leave Bayern Munich. 3.07pm

3.07pmMorgan Schneiderlin is 1/10 to stay at Southampton beyond the end of the January transfer window. The Frenchman is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, with his form this season drawing a host of outside interest. The 23-year-old moved to the Barcelona-based club on an initial loan deal at the start of the season, with Espanyol having the option to make the deal permanent. That option has now been exercised by his current side, with Vasquez impressing during the first half of the campaign.

2.29pmBad news for Manchester United fans! Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that Paul Pogba is not for sale. Since arriving at Juve from Manchester United in 2012, the 21-year-old has developed into one of the best midfielders in European football. It has been reported that United are preparing a £70m move to bring the Frenchman back to Old Trafford, but Marotta has insisted that the former Le Havre youngster is not for sale.

2.13pmEverton boss Roberto Martinez has denied that Samuel Eto'o is in talks with Italian side Sampdoria. It has been strongly speculated that the Cameroonian is close to joining the Serie A side on an 18-month deal. However, Martinez has insisted that there have been no talks between the two clubs. That is one to watch I think.
