Schalke 04 sign Matija Nastasic on loan

Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic has joined Schalke 04 on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joined City from Fiorentina in 2012 and impressed during his first two seasons at the Etihad.

However, the defender has fallen out of favour under Manuel Pellegrini, who has consistently overlooked the Serbian despite injury problems at the back.

A number of clubs were linked with a move this month, but Schalke have secured the centre-back until the end of the campaign.

It is understood that Schalke can make the move permanent at the end of the season for £10m.
