Preview: Inter Miami vs. Dallas - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Major League Soccer clash between Inter Miami and Dallas, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Inter Miami will be looking to keep their unbeaten league record intact when they face FC Dallas in their rescheduled MLS matchup at Chase Stadium on Sunday.

This match was originally listed to be played on April 26, but was moved later due to the Herons qualifying for the Concacaf Champions Cup semi-finals.

Inter Miami will return to Chase Stadium this weekend off the back of a disappointing trip to Vancouver in the week, when they suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Whitecaps in their first-ever Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final appearance.

In front of a record crowd at BC Place, the hometown side delivered in style, as Brian White added to his impressive goal tally and Sebastian Berhalter doubled his side's advantage to give them a two-goal cushion to bring to Miami in the second leg.

While their Champions Cup hopes are now in jeopardy, the Herons have been in good shape in the league competition, currently the only team in the MLS still unbeaten this season, with five wins and three draws in their first eight games.

Javier Mascherano's side won their last league game 1-0 on the road against Columbus Crew, with Benjamin Cremaschi scoring what turned out to be the winning goal 30 minutes into the match.

The hosts have split their first four home league games this season two wins and two draws, but they were beaten by this opponent 1-0 at this venue when they last met in 2023, and Mascherano may also be forced into some rotation with one eye on their massive second-leg clash against Vancouver in the coming week.

Meanwhile, FC Dallas will roll into Miami with confidence after battling to a gutsy 0-0 draw against the red-hot Minnesota United last week, which extended their impressive unbeaten streak on the road to five straight games.

Since the start of the 2025 league campaign, Los Toros have been road-warrior tough, racking up nine points from five away games (W2 D3) - the best in the West and tied for third-top across the entire MLS.

During their unbeaten away run, FCD beat Houston and Real Salt Lake 2-1 and 1-0, respectively, while drawing 3-3 against the Rapids and 1-1 with Atlanta before the match against Minnesota.

However, the next challenge for new boss Eric Quill is translating that road grit into home success, with his team managing just one win from four matches at Toyota Stadium to start the season, though that is a problem for another day.

Team News

Inter Miami were active in the MLS Primary Transfer Window, which was headlined by the arrival of defender Maximiliano Falcon, while deadline day saw Finnish winger Robert Taylor make a surprise move to Austin FC.

As mentioned, Mascherano may feel the need to rotate some of his star players this weekend, while David Ruiz, Baltasar Rodriguez, Ryan Sailor and Federico Redondo are all out due to injury.

Petar Musa has made an excellent start to the season for Dallas, notching up six goal involvements in eight games, but he was forced to sit out their last match due to an ankle injury and is flagged as a major doubt this week.

If the Croatian international is unable to return in time, he will join several other injury absentees on the sidelines, including the likes of Leo Chu, Marco Farfan, Geovane Jesus, Sebastian Lletget and Enzo Newman.

Inter Miami possible starting lineup:
Ustari; Weigandt, Aviles, Falcon, Alba; Cremaschi, Busquets, Picault, Segovia; Messi, Suarez

Dallas possible starting lineup:
Paes; Moore, Abubakar, Urhoghide, Norris; Ferreira, Ramiro, Show; Perinho; Jilio, Farrington

We say: Inter Miami 2-1 Dallas

While Inter Miami are expected to make a few changes to their lineup owing to their Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final second leg in the week, we feel they will still have enough firepower in reserve to pick up the win in this one.
