Barcelona-Real Madrid in danger over strike threat?

A threatened strike by La Liga clubs could reportedly lead to next month's clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid being postponed.

Barcelona's clash with bitter rivals Real Madrid could be postponed after La Liga clubs reportedly threatened to go on strike over the current television rights deal.

Under the existing agreement, the majority of the money earned from screening live league fixtures goes to both Real and Barca.

However, The Mirror claims that smaller clubs are fed up with the current arrangement and are looking to renegotiate the deal for TV rights, with a fairer redistribution akin to the collective bargaining of the Premier League.

It is thought that the Spanish government have given 15 days for an agreement to be reached between the LFP, which runs La Liga, and the clubs.

With the government unlikely to intervene, other teams could target the prestigious fixture at Camp Nou, which is scheduled to take place on March 22.
