Good morning all! So, what will today bring? We are yet to see anything similar to that of the 2011 January window when Fernando Torres was sold by Liverpool to Chelsea for £50m and Andy Carroll headed to Anfield from Newcastle United for £35m. However, the long-awaited transfer of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City to Manchester City could come close in terms of value. Widespread reports have claimed that a £27m fee has been agreed, but for some reason, the move is yet to go over the line. Will today be the day?

Let's begin with Liverpool. A lot of talk around Merseyside has been focused on the players that they are/could be losing, including Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and Lucas Leiva. However, there are reports that defender Martin Skrtel is in talks with the Reds about signing a new deal. The 30-year-old's existing contract expires in 2016, but Liverpool are reportedly keen to tie him down to fresh terms.

Overnight, speculation continued to do the rounds, with Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho and West Ham United midfielder Ravel Morrison being mentioned. You can catch up with stories from the last few hours in our morning update.

UPDATE! Last week, it was reported that Raheem Sterling is close to signing a new five-year deal at Liverpool, despite rumoured interest from Real Madrid. Now, Goal.com has claimed that the 20-year-old's decision to stay put at Anfield comes after he was given assurances that Brendan Rodgers's job as manager is safe.

DONE DEAL! Arsenal have announced that Yaya Sanogo has signed for Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season. Read more.

After sealing his loan move to Crystal Palace, Yaya Sanogo has claimed that he is hoping to gain regular first-team football at Selhurst Park, and Palace boss Alan Pardew has praised his new signing by insisting that the 21-year-old has "tremendous promise".

Right, that's all from me folks, so I shall hand you over to my colleague Steven Toplis, who will provide you with updates until midday. Enjoy!

Thanks Danielle! Some interesting news for Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal fans this morning, as the agent of Paul Pogba says that the midfielder could leave Juventus within a year. The Premier League trio are all thought to be interested in signing the France international. So, will he make a return to English football?

Liverpool are said to be in the market for a new striker this month, with Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette reportedly at the top of their shopping list. However, their president Jean-Michel Aulas has issued a hands off warning to the Reds and any other potential suitors. Read what he has to say here.

Some news now regarding Jay Rodriguez - remember him? The Southampton striker has been out of action since April with a knee ligament injury, but this has not stopped a host of clubs expressing an interest to sign him. According to reports, Manchester City will attempt to beat Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to the England international's signature.

Not content with signing one striker in the form of Andrej Kramaric, Leicester City have also shown an interest in Japanese frontman Shinji Okazaki. The Mainz 05 player has revealed that the Foxes would like to bring him to the King Power Stadium.

Into the Championship now, where Wolverhampton Wanderers have allowed Icelandic striker Bjorn Sigurdarson to join Copenhagen on loan until the end of June. He will be reunited with former Wolves boss Stale Solbakken at the Danish club.

Leicester City youngster Adam Dawson has joined Football Conference side Bristol Rovers on a short-term loan deal. The 22-year-old midfielder will be at the Memorial Stadium for a month.

The future of Ravel Morrison has been the subject of speculation this transfer window, since West Ham United told him that he is free to leave. Aston Villa have become the latest club to be linked with the 21-year-old, with Paul Lambert thought to be weighing up a move for the English midfielder.

Many observers believe that Arsene Wenger must strengthen his Arsenal side this month, and it appears that the Gunners boss is attempting to do just that. According to reports, Wenger has launched a £15.6m bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

Well, that's all from me for today. I'll now leave you in the capable hands of Jack Prescott, who will keep you up to speed with all the latest transfer gossip over the next few hours.

Thank you, Steven! Right, let's kick off with some news regarding Middlesbrough. The Championship club reportedly has no plans to offer a contract to former Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida. Recent speculation had suggested that the 24-year-old, who is a free agent following his release by Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense, had been in talks over a move to Boro.

Crawley Town have gone all exotic by signing Brazilian goalkeeper Evandro Rachoni de Lima. Interim manager Dean Saunders has just one senior goalkeeper on the books at the Broadfield Stadium in Brian Jensen, who picked up a thumb injury at the weekend.

Radamel Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes has conceded that the striker's future at Manchester United is unclear. The Colombian joined the Red Devils on a season-long loan deal from Monaco during the summer, but recent reports have suggested that he is unhappy after being left out of the squad for Sunday's defeat to Southampton.

Aston Villa's move for Carles Gil has reportedly hit a last-minute setback over agents' fees. According to PA, the Valencia midfielder's representatives have demanded more money at the 11th hour of the deal.

Sheffield United have reportedly had a second offer for Gary Mackay-Steven rejected by Dundee United. The Blades are said to have failed with a first bid for the 25-year-old last week.

Blackpool and Hull City will finally attempt to reach an agreement over the transfer of Thomas Ince at a tribunal this Thursday. Ince turns 23 later this month and his age means that Blackpool are entitled to some compensation after he left them for Hull when his contract expired last summer.

That's all from me for this afternoon, but Liam Apicella will be here for the next three hours to guide you through all of the latest news and gossip from the transfer world. Enjoy!

Thanks Jack. Let's start with a worrying report for Manchester United fans. It's being said that Angel di Maria is a priority target for French club Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. The Ligue 1 champions were keen on the Argentina international and are believed to be preparing to renew their interest.

Meanwhile, over in Italy, someone that will not be moving on this month is Stephan Lichtsteiner. The Swiss right-back's future had been uncertain because his contract was expiring at the end of the campaign, but he has now committed himself to the Italian champions for another two years.

DONE DEALS! A couple of League Two clubs have been busy this afternoon. Cambridge United have completed the one-month loan addition of Cameron McGeehan from Norwich, while Tranmere Rovers have signed Rob Taylor from Mansfield Town.

GOING NOWHERE! A defiant Sean Dyche has told reporters that Burnley do not need to sell Danny Ings this month. More here.

A new defender at Arsenal? Well, according to Tuttomercato, Arsene Wenger is keen to sign Valencia's Joao Pereira. The Portugal international's contract is due to expire in the summer and the La Liga outfit are said to be prepared to cash in on the 30-year-old. However, the Gunners may face competition from AC Milan and Roma.

News from Italy now and former Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez has joined Torino on an undisclosed fee from Chievo. More here.

BREAKING NEWS! It's taken a little while to get over the line, but Aston Villa have completed the signing of Carles Gil from Valencia. The story is developing here.

It's not transfer related, but there is some sad news coming out of Wolves this afternoon. Their former chairman Sir Jack Hayward has died at the age of 91. More here.

And that is as far as I take you for today. Coming up next is Matt Law, who will be with you through to 7pm. Over to you, Matt.

Thanks Liam! Matt here and I shall be with you for the next couple of hours. So, has Messi joined Manchester United yet? Unfortunately not.

Staying with Messi and Sergio Busquets does not believe that his Barcelona teammate will leave the Camp Nou in the near future. Read what the Spaniard has had to say here.

Back to the Premier League - Robert Huth will reportedly be allowed to leave Stoke City on loan this month. The German has been with Stoke since joining from Middlesbrough 2009 – making almost 150 league appearances for the Potters. However, the 30-year-old has made just one league appearance under Mark Hughes this season, which has led to speculation surrounding his future. The big German will surely be fancied by a number of clubs.

What about David de Gea then? Still no new deal for the Manchester United stopper. However, Real Madrid assistant boss Paul Clement has played down talk that the Spanish club want to sign the exceptional goalkeeper. I have a feeling that one will run and run...

Leicester City have reportedly agreed a fee with Wigan Athletic for the transfer of Shaun Maloney. The 31-year-old is said to have been courted by several Premier League clubs, but Leicester have won the race and will secure him on a long-term deal, according to Goal.com.

Back in England, Peter Crouch is reportedly on the verge of signing a new two-year contract at Stoke City. The 33-year-old's current deal at the Britannia expires this summer, which has led to a host of speculation surrounding his long-term future. However, according to The Telegraph, the former England striker will sign a new two-year contract before the end of the week.

Not transfer news exactly, but Charlton Athletic have just named former Standard Liege boss Guy Luzon as their new head coach. More here.

Be sure to check out our 7pm Transfer Update here. That is all from me this evening, but be sure to remain with us as I pass the baton onto Barney Corkhill...

Cheers Matt! First up for you I have some news from Serie A, where title-chasing Roma could find themselves losing Mattia Destro. The forward is rumoured to be unhappy with his lack of first-team football at the club, and has hinted that he could leave. Watch this space!

Sticking with the Italian theme, and indeed staying in Rome, Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson has been talking about his future. The Brazilian midfielder has talked up the potential of a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Read what he had to say here.

A little closer to home, Radamel Falcao's name has been swirling around the rumour mill recently, with the Colombian reportedly unhappy with Louis van Gaal's decision to leave him out of the squad to face Southampton on Sunday. His future has come under question, but he insists that he did not leave Old Trafford before the match having found out that he would not be involved.

Another striker who has been linked with a move away from the Premier League is Samuel Eto'o, and his agent has fuelled speculation by saying that he is "optimistic" of a deal to take the Cameroonian to Sampdoria.

If reports are to be believed, Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette is a player in high demand across Europe, but it sounds like it may take a hefty sum to get him. Club president Jean-Michel Aulus has dubbed him better than Gareth Bale, who is of course the most expensive player in football history. More on that story here.

One of the biggest transfer stories of the window has been Wilfried Bony's impending move to Manchester City, and Swansea City are reportedly looking for a big name to replace him. Reports have linked the club with Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez, which certainly would be a major coup for Garry Monk's men.

Struggling Wigan Athletic have not had a great time of things so far this season, and things look like they are about to get worse. Shaun Maloney was expected to leave the club this month, and that has come a step closer to reality today as Leicester City have agreed a fee for the Scottish winger.

Right, that is my stint at an end! I will leave you in the capable hands of Shane Callaghan, who will take you through to the early hours of the morning...

Thanks Barney, and thank you for tuning in. We'll kick things off with reports that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman will sign £15m-rated Rafa Silva from Braga this month. Check out the fully story in here.

Some Burnley news to tell you about now as manager Sean Dyche remains hopeful of retaining the services of striker Danny Ings beyond the winter transfer window. More in here.

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a January move for Espanyol and Mexico defender Hector Moreno. The Gunners deployed chief scout Brian McDermott to watch the 26-year-old in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Valencia in the Copa del Rey.

Some fairly big news here and Jermain Defoe is reportedly on the verge of joining Sunderland, with Jozy Altidore heading the other way. More on this in here!

Just one more story before bed time, and Everton boss Roberto Martinez reveals that he has indeed received enquiries about Samuel Eto'o, who has been heavily linked with a move to Sampdoria. More on that in here.

Well, that just about wraps her up, but we're back on at 7 am so join us later on today. It may be bed time for me and the blog, but we're open all hours here at Sports Mole so there will be stories regularly flooding in throughout the early hours so don't go too far - unless it's to bed, in which case fair enough. Until next time, my friends...
