Aston Villa confirm Carles Gil signing

Aston Villa confirm the signing of Carles Gil from Valencia until 2019.

Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of midfielder Carles Gil from Valencia on a deal until 2019.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has moved to the Premier League club for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Gil made his senior debut for Valencia in 2009 after graduating from their youth academy.

"We've been on the lookout for a creative player and he will certainly bring that extra element to the side," manager Paul Lambert told the club's official website.

"He's only 22 years of age but he will come here and give us something I don't think we have at the moment. He can play either role, coming in off the sides or playing in behind as well. He can create chances and get those chances put away. He has a lot to offer and I know we can get the best out of him."

Gil could make his Villa debut on Saturday when they host Liverpool in the Premier League.
