Morning all! We have just under four weeks before the summer transfer window slams shut, so clubs are working hard to seal new acquisitions. There has been plenty of activity recently, so expect some more rumours to be doing the rounds throughout the day.
Over the weekend it was
confirmed that former Chelsea star Frank Lampard will join Manchester City on a six-month loan ahead of his move to MLS side New York City. Today, the 36-year-old has been
speaking about his temporary switch to the Etihad Stadium, describing it as a "fantastic opportunity".
Let's turn our attention to City's local rivals Manchester United for a minute and the transfer saga that is Arturo Vidal. The Red Devils have been linked with the Juventus midfielder for some time, but now, Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli
has claimed that United boss Louis van Gaal is holding off a move for Vidal because of the player's knee condition.
One of the busiest clubs in the Premier League this summer has been Liverpool, but it appears that they are not done yet following reports that Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo will join the Reds within the
next 24 hours on a two-year loan.
Switching to the Championship, Middlesbrough have
confirmed that they have retained the services of Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo for a season-long loan ahead of the new Championship campaign, which gets underway this weekend.
Nicky Ajose has been
speaking about his recent move to Leeds United from Peterborough. The 22-year-old, who signed a three-year deal on Tuesday, insists that he has joined the "biggest club" in the Championship.
Moving back to the Premier League and Everton's James McCarthy has
insisted that he is happy at Goodison Park, despite speculation linking him to fellow top flight clubs Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Newcastle United have also been doing some business this summer, and they are expected to welcome Nottingham Forest duo Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow to the club before loaning the pair back to the City Ground. Magpies manager Alan Pardew has
described the acquisitions as "great assets" for the North-East outfit.

Besiktas are
reportedly interested in signing Barcelona attacker Ibrahim Afellay this summer. The 28-year-old moved to the Camp Nou from PSV Eindhoven in 2011, but injuries have harmed his career with the Catalan outfit. Afellay was once regarded as one of the most sought-after players in European football, but has struggled over the last couple of years.
Staying in Spain and Atletico Madrid are
reportedly close to signing Malaga skipper Jesus Gamez.

DONE DEAL! Derby County have
secured the services of Omar Mascarell on a season-long loan basis from Real Madrid. The 21-year-old made the switch following his return from the International Champions Cup in the USA, where he made appearances against Inter Milan and Roma.
Staying in England, in particular the Premier League, where West Ham United are
reportedly interested in signing experienced Portuguese forward Hugo Almeida. The 30-year-old, who has scored 19 times in 56 appearances for his country, is available on a free transfer this summer after leaving Turkish outfit Besiktas.

Staying in England and West Ham United are
reportedly interested in signing FC Basel skipper Marcos Streller. The 33-year-old, who has had two separate spells with Basel, is regarded as one of the most decorated players in Swiss football history.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has
hinted at a move for Fiorentina midfielder Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian international, who impressed for his country at this summer's World Cup, has been strongly linked with a move to United in recent days. Van Gaal has said: "I cannot talk about Cuadrado, because if I say something about him the price will rise."
Switching back to Spain, where Atletico Madrid are
reportedly preparing a big-money move for Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle. The 23-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, helped Germany win the World Cup this summer.
Staying in Spain and Elche sporting director Victor Orta has revealed that the Spanish club have been priced out of a move for experienced Serbian midfielder Milos Krasic. Orta told gazetevatan.com: "We made a good offer for Krasic, but Dejan Joksimovic didn't accept it."
DONE DEAL! Championship side Blackpool have
secured the services of free agent Ishmael Miller. The 27-year-old had been without a club since the end of last season when he was released by Nottingham Forest.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Josuha Guilavogui will spend the 2014-15 campaign on loan at Wolfsburg after the two clubs
agreed a deal for the Frenchman.

Charlton Athletic have granted Reza Ghoochannejhad permission to
link up with Kuwait Sporting Club on a season-long loan basis. The Iran international only arrived at The Valley from Belgian side Standard Liege back in January.
Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman has revealed that he is
hoping to sign three more attacking players before the end of the transfer window. The Scot has added 10 new faces to his squad so far this summer, though nine of those have been for free.
Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has claimed that Stephen Ward is
not close to joining Brighton & Hove Albion. The left-back had been expected to make a permanent switch to the Seagulls this summer after spending last season on loan at the Championship club.
Huddersfield Town have reportedly
had an offer accepted by Liverpool for midfielder Conor Coady. It is believed that the 21-year-old has now travelled to the Championship club, where he will undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.

Manchester City are
reportedly keen to challenge Real Madrid for the services of Monaco striker Radamel Falcao. Recent speculation has suggested that European champions Madrid were eager to sign the Colombian international, who only joined his current club 12 months ago from Atletico Madrid.
DONE DEAL! Southampton have
completed a season-long loan move for Inter Milan midfielder Saphir Taider. The deal has seen club-record signing Dani Osvaldo join the Serie A side on loan for the 2014-15 campaign.
Manchester United have reportedly
made an offer in the region of £8m for AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong. The Netherlands international shares a strong relationship with United boss Louis van Gaal, who left his post with the Dutch national team at the end of this summer's World Cup.
Southampton have reportedly had an offer in the region of £9.5m for Argentine left-back Marcos Rojo
rebuffed by Sporting Lisbon. Rojo, who starred for Argentina at this summer's World Cup, has been strongly linked with a move away from Portugal this summer.
DONE DEAL! Huddersfield Town have
signed midfielder Conor Coady from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the Championship club, who have the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
West Bromwich Albion are reportedly
interested in signing Stoke City attacker Jonathan Walters. The 30-year-old, who joined Stoke from Ipswich Town in 2011, has been a key player for the Potters over the last couple of seasons.

After making a name for himself in the 2013 FA Cup final against Manchester City, Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman struggled to have a real impact on the Championship last term. Celtic are reportedly
considering a move to give the 23-year-old a fresh start in Scotland.

After mentioning that Nottingham Forest might complete the signing of Britt Assombalonga earlier, the move has been confirmed by their chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi on Twitter: "We have just made our second signing of the day. Peterborough striker Britt Assombalonga signs a five-year deal. #nffc." It is believed that the fee could be around £5.5m, which is steep for a player who is yet to prove himself in the Championship.
