Sports Mole brings regular updates throughout the day of the latest transfer news making the headlines.

Welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog on Friday, August 22.

The clock is ticking with just 10 days left to go until the transfer window slams shut.

This weekend's matches may be on the agenda for clubs, but work will still be going on behind the scenes to get new faces in.

Here, you can keep updated with the latest transfer news and speculation as it filters through.

9.02amHappy Friday all! Mario Balotelli's reported move to Liverpool from AC Milan dominated the headlines yesterday, but who will make the front pages today?

9.22amManchester United have been under scrutiny once again for their lack of summer spending. They appeared to be back on track by signing Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon earlier this week, but reports have claimed that they're going to turn down a chance to sign Real Madrid star Angel di Maria. Carlo Ancelotti confirmed yesterday that the Argentine wants to leave the Bernabeu, but United boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly reluctant to pursue the player due to fears that Di Maria's arrival will hamper Adnan Januzaj's development.

9.38amYou may have heard that Liverpool are closing in on the signing of AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli... However, is there a twist in the deal? According to reports, the controversial Italian will have to accept behaviour clauses in his contract in order to make the move to Anfield.

9.47amDONE DEAL! Let's switch to the Championship for a moment. Fulham have announced the signing of 19-year-old defender Tiago Casasola from Boca Juniors on a three-year deal.

12.00pmThat's all from me for the time being, so I shall hand you over to Darren Plant, who will keep you updated over the next three hours.

12.17pmThanks Danielle. We start this afternoon with the news that AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli is due in England later today for a medical ahead of a proposed move to Liverpool. The 24-year-old won't be able to make his debut against former club Manchester City on Monday evening, but it looks like the Anfield outfit will move a step closer to getting their man.

12.47pmDONE DEAL! Swansea City have strengthened their squad with the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll. The England Under-21 international has moved to the Liberty Stadium on a season-long loan deal.

2.07pmChelsea have already made some excellent signings during the summer, but during his Friday press conference, manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that he is in no rush to add to his squad before the end of the transfer window.

2.21pmManchester United have been linked with a number of potential arrivals in the past few weeks, but it looks as though one of their longest-serving players could be heading out of the door. Striker Danny Welbeck has reportedly been informed that he can leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

3.01pmChelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel featured regularly during pre-season for the Stamford Bridge outfit, but after being dropped from the Blues' squad to play Burnley on Monday evening, his agent has revealed that the Dutch international is keen for talks with the club.

4.10pmRumours are rife that Danny Welbeck has been told that he can leave the club, but Louis van Gaal failed to give much insight into the situation after claiming that the media are "guessing".

5.14pmTottenham Hotspur's transfer plans have suffered a blow after PSV Eindhoven confirmed that Memphis Depay has signed a new four-year contract with the club. Spurs have been heavily linked with the Dutchman throughout the summer.

5.18pmAccording to Sky Sports News, Mario Balotelli has arrived at Liverpool's Melwood training ground ahead of a possible move to the Merseyside club. Who saw this one coming?! Well, it appears that a £16m deal is close to completion.

5.47pmCould Manchester United be closing in on a move for Angel di Maria? Well, reports have claimed that the Argentina international has been left out of Real Madrid's squad for tonight's Spanish Super Cup second leg against Atletico Madrid. Read into that what you will.

7.01pmThat's all from me tonight, so I shall hand you over to Sian Cowper, who will bring you any transfer news as it happens in the next few hours.

While Mario Balotelli is set to continue his medical tomorrow, it is being reported that former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has completed his meeting with the club's doctors ahead of his proposed move to Anfield.

10.35pmSpeaking of Balotelli, the Italian has reportedly agreed to take a 50% pay cut in order to complete his move to Liverpool. It's expected that he will continue his medical tomorrow ahead of his proposed £16m move to Anfield.

11.01pmWell that's all from me this evening, but stick around for the next three hours as Alex Meyers will be here to keep you up to date with all the latest transfer news.

12.15amThanks Sian. I'll start with the news that Juventus are reportedly planning a move for Arsenal's Lukas Podolski. The Italian champions are believed to have made an enquiry regarding the German's value as they look to add another forward to their squad.
